Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamed survived an assassination attempt in Gaza after his convoy was targeted with an improvised explosive device.

An explosion occurred shortly before the convoy of Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Rami Al-Hamdallah and Major General Majed Faraj, head of the Palestinian General Intelligence Service, after arriving in the Gaza Strip through the Beit Hanoun crossing.

The convoy was targeted by three car bombs, then there was fire exchange and clashes with the guards.. The injured were guards of the convoy, the sources said..

A Fatah spokesman said the number of casualties reached 10 from their companions..

This was a very grave incident, that God forbid had done more damage would've caused civil strife of some sort. It is unclear who was behind this and the security ministry in Gaza is investigating it. It's sad to see the reconciliation will not go forward due to differing approaches to achieving statehood. Fatah can't bring forth a solution to the people in the West Bank and Gaza. You can't blame them as Israel is using force to to achieve its objectives there such as controlling resources, borders and annexing some cities. Hamas's approach of armed resistance can delay or disrupt Israel's activities but post occupation cannot get international recognition for statehood. Palestinians are facing a tough dilemma that is resulting in these two major movements taking out their frustrations on one another and is not healthy for the cause.

I do not suspect Hamas is behind this, but it could be a rogue group of individuals within the movement trying to take matters into their hands and violating the movement's nature. With time it will be seen, but no politician should have to deal with anything like this and anyone partaking in such acts is no longer an activist rather someone going crazy.

Absolutely. This type of thing can never be a good thing in the grand scheme of things. Mesh mafroud ne2tel ba3d kedah. Too bad we were so close before the orange-headed baboon pulled that idiotic move and all but killed any chance at a 2-state. Honestly, I wouldn't accept anything now and just wait until the orangutan is out of office. If his lying that he did it in order to take it off the table in order for Jared LOL to now make it the condition for peace, then he needs a taste of his own medicine in the same form. Everyone knows he did it for his own political image before anything else. What an insult that he takes us for such fools, smh.

Of course Palestinians don't have that much leverage, but maybe with a little luck, Bibi's charges of fraud haunt him and he loses a next term -- which could very well happen -- and by the grace of God the Likud party gets bumped and someone more rational comes to power in Israel where things can move in the right direction.

I'm convinced Netanyahu saw it coming with the Hamas/Fatah reconciliation and had to find something that would sabotage an eventual forcing of his hand to the table. If the time comes, I personally wouldn't mind giving them Jerusalem as their capital, provided they allow a Muslim delegation to run the Islamic sites and areas, withdraw all Israeli settlements from the WB, take down the Nazi wall and then a 2-state solution can happen with all Palestinians moving out of Israel into Palestinian territory and vice versa and Palestine gets its own security. That's about as fair of an exchange as can be considering they're asking. One unrealistic side will always be met with another.

Of course that will never happen and so be it. Netanyahu said he would consider a 2-state solution as long as Israel maintains security and of course that will never happen. So might as well ask for what Palestinians would consider fair as well, right?
