The Pakistan’s first ever hybrid rocket to launch soon



DSU Star Busters are leveling their wings to launch the Pakistan’s first ever hybrid rocket.

DSU Star Busters, a team of young engineering students from the Defense Housing Authority Suffa University (DSU), is building the Pakistan’s first ever rocket which will propel on hybrid fuel. An optimized mix of fuel will be used to power the machine which has made the rocket build very inexpensive as compared to other available options.

The talented team is led by the head of mechanical engineering department Dr Bilal Ahmed Siddiqui and consists of two final-year students of mechanical engineering, Waqas Aslam and Khizar Siddiqui.

The Rocket is codenamed Raheel 1. The structure of Raheel 1 took about six months to complete and costed about half a lac, a cost which seems to be insignificant as compared to the average cost, very much due to optimized fueling. The team has tested the rocket three times during this month alone.

“Raheel 1 is now in testing phase and the students are noting the after-time lapse and other factors,” the mechanical lab engineer Mahrukh Mumtaz Hussain was quoted.

Mahrukh further commented that Pakistan has not done much work in this field because of its high cost. She was positive that this innovation will surely reduce the cost.

The hybridized fuel powered rocket program of DSU is the first such program in Pakistan, the second such program in Asia and DSU is one of twenty universities from all over the world which are doing research oriented projects in these areas.

The Rocket is simulated by a corresponding computer application. The comprehensive computer application displays the vitals of the rocket and can be used to maneuver the rocket as per the signs.

DSU plans to take forward the research in this field. They are using the same formula and research to make the fastest car in Asia which will have a top speed of 500km per hour. Sure, if the research has potential it should be taken forward. Pakistan is already facing various energy-related problems.

There is a widening gap between the production and the demand for electric power. I wonder when the government will step into this and sponsor these type of projects. The usage of hybrid fuels can reduce the cost of the fuel. It can also make the volume of the fuel less which is a major constraint, especially when designing a rocket. The hybrid fuels are made by mixing different fuels in optimized quantities which can also reduce pollution. It is the time we take a step forward and look into these inspired-by-need solutions.

Students need positive support i am sure Pakistani students have potentials to innovate in any field we sud have exchange programmes in this regard..
These students then help other students and chain will be created... we need home grown tech and universities can be the best solutions for army and for Pakistans need.

Privatise Aviation Industry It Will Help But It Depends on the Companies Who will Fund new Ventures and New Technology and Its Sale, on Basing how much of there products are services being used and Can they make profit from it ,
While For Space i dont See any point in it
Because Problem i dont see Much Support To These two industry from Local Production , or Companies maybe on smaller scale and that where story ends
Gov Funding Means Money Will Keep Coming Even its Low, Solution is Develop the structure For the Base Only than These industry can start developing Technologies are systems which are par to international market and than they can create revenue from that and Expand and develop further

Ah a positive news all the very best to these students and nice name "Raheel 1" btw what is the use of this?
It is essentially in its early stages as a technology demonstrator which if tested successfully could reduce fuel costs as well as give improved efficiency due to lower volume of fuel required.Kudos

This is one of the reason I tell everyone Pakistan has a huge future and the top 11th nation spot for her in the next couple of decades. There is so much talent available, ready for exploration. These projects need to expand across Pakistan in all different fields, this is how you build your science base and start to build futuristic systems yourselves, whether its Space Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Healthcare. All these fields require a research base for future advancements. Good to see a few interesting projects going on. This R&D work needs to be expanded across all colleges and universities at a higher priority and ASAP.
