The men in khaki

sadly anyone above the level of MAJOR is incompetent & corrupt!

So according to you all the lieutenant colonel, colonel, brigadiers, major general, lieutenant general and generals are corrupt and incompetent. Do you even that before becoming anything of the above they also used to be major, captain, lieutenant at some point of time. Wonder from where in the world you guys come up with such illogical statements.

sadly anyone above the level of MAJOR is incompetent & corrupt! the common soldier subedaar, captain & naik are the ones i hold in hight regard! everyone else is why this nation is in shambles! be it the debicle of 65,71,99 or musharraf era!

That basically encompasses over 70% of your officer corp. Yep, call Amnesty and tell them their fact finding is wrong, PA isn't the most transparent and efficient institution as they have so thought for much of our history, a random man on the internet says otherwise.
Who commanded the Ops in FATA? Were they inefficient?
Who co-ordinated the Rescue operations for the Floods and the Earthquake? Were they inefficient?
Who built all the motorways and Dams? Were they inefficient?

Your primitive and unsubstantiated, further more completely absurd statement makes me gag with disgust!
Kindly have the courtesy to have ANY third grade source to back up your trolling next time. Anything will do quote TOI, FOX, anything!

hey are night watch man and a night watch man shall get only the respect they deserve.

Kindly tell me when you find a Night Watchman building roads, dams, cleaning canals, carrying out relief work, providing security on city streets and above all protecting the border. Night Watchmen don't do all that but I expect a PTIer to have a very narrow understanding of the role of the institutions.

True, but Musharraf and Kayani are either not very bright, or evil.

Just because he doesn't give fiery statements or stage a coup does not make Kiyani a dull general.

how kids used to wave hands when Army truck would pass by on roads of Lahore, now the mother looks with fear in her eyes and tries to avoid as if she has seen nothing, and kids they dont have iota of love instigated in them by their parents towards the military.

Unfortunately the respect earned by the military institution is directly increasing the gap between the common Pakistani and ordinary soldiers at duty.

Just the other day in CMH Lahore at entry point, the way gate keeper inquired me saying "Civilian" contained all the hatred British Royal Army officer may have had for the civilians of subcontinent, but on my way out from the other side, we slowed down and said to the other gate keeper that we werent here to travel through the whole hospital, but its very nice and well maintained here.. and he smiled back and we left. (those who know, know the way in and way out of hospital)... so it was basically again me who tried to obtain a positive sense, but for how long?

the army needs to learn and bent its imperialist ways, bring officers to the books of law, they are night watch man and a night watch man shall get only the respect they deserve.

correct, but how and who will bell the cat

Unfortunately.. the truth is always somewhere in the middle..
there are issues in transparency.. and there is corruption..somewhere up in the higher ranks..
and those that have roamed the halls of this institution testify to it.
There are many branches of the Army(and AF or Navy)..such as MES or FWO or NLC where corruption has been carried out by those that were in the top hierarchy...and many that got away with it just due to their ranks and links with the ruling roost.

when compared to the scale of corruption that exists outside.. it matches the amounts that many politicians make on a relative scale.

But when compared to the spread of corruption that plagues the civil govt and institutions.. its minuscule.
In fact.. if a low level corruption case is caught..usually the officer/NCO/enlisted is given the harshest punishment possible by the sleuths(unless off course he is saved by the common evil of nepotism in Pakistan)..
However.. when some high ranking officers do it.. whether by collusion or by finding loopholes and convincing their superiors.
The sleuths are powerless to act because there is usually some Three star that has their back..that fact that such a three star who was prone to protecting illegal activities actually made it up the ranks is the cause of worry..
But then again.. this is the story throughout Pakistan.. why be surprised?
Off course.. the difference is that such acts are never allowed to leave the drawing rooms of Majors or Colonels(etc etc)...
first..to maintain morale... and second.. to ensure that this does not erupt into a scandal that may play havoc with the actual necessary operational practices of the Army.

By far and large.. the Army is cleaner.. more organzied and less wasteful than other institutions in Pakistan.
And as correctly stated in the article.. They are us..

It is incorrect for Civilians to spew blame at all those that get a commission in the army due to the misdeeds of a few.
and it is incorrect for the military to maintain a "holier than thou" attitude towards the civilians.

One should stop looking through the lens of military and civillian..and look through a wide FOV of a Pakistani.,

As a nation, we are corrupt, thrive on nepotism.. and always find excuses to blame each other.
Our soldiers are our blood, and any disrespect for them in general.. is disrespecting our own blood.
As I repeatedly state..
I hold a huge grudge against many senior officers(ex and serving) for financial and military conduct unbecoming of an officer..just as I do against this farce democratic govt and its wannabe lackeys..

But Ill cut the tongue out of the person who dares say a word about my military or my soldier in general..

And here comes the Nazi waffen ss.

And how is the army, the whole institution morally and financially corrupt and unprofessional?

We'd all be damned to hell the day he actually posts something more than an unjustified brain fart.
I don't even bother replying because I know he won't be there to stick by his statement.

after deliverance both are alike requited, our Gods forgotten and our Soldiers slighted"

Putting aside politics, these poor 135 souls do truly deserve respect. An awful, awful episode and a horrible end.
