The Malaysian miracle: some lessons for Pakistan

Malaysia has around 35% non malay population with large percentage of Chinese, Indians and Indonesians. The neighbourhood scenario is different. Malaysian situation cannot be compared with Pakistan. Infact Pakistan has to come up with a new development scenario matching with the culture of the people it lives in.

Perhaps being a multilingual country (major spoken languages malay, mandarin, tamil, cantonese, english) + stable internal politics + peaceful region (SEA) has its attraction to foreign investors.

Those languages can cater to multiple regions, for a business point of view that is a strong point

You cannot ignore the fact that AFTA agreement and the signing of ASEAN FTA is one of the reasons behind Malaysia's rapid growth. Last year, intra-ASEAN trade volume stood up to $500 billion plus while in contrast, SAARC is inactive, having no FTA between two large economies. IMO, Pakistan & India, both countries should relax their trade policies (lowering down their custom tarrifs and ban on export/imports of certain products) for the betterment of their countrymen.

Agreed,by itself it does not. However it is exposition or symbolic of something deeper. Turkey, Malaysia, indonesia have adopted Roman. Interestingly they are amongst the most advanced Muslim majority countries by wide margin.

That's very interesting -I have always preferred the non-arab muslim countries Turkey/Iran and Malaysia /Indonesia countries with rich cultures/stability/ better educated and better women's rights and wondered why maybe apart from Turkey that Pakistanis never had this love affair or wanted such close with them like they do with Arabs who actually look down on them ? I mean really what is it the petro-money ?
South east asia is one of my favorites places so much rich culture and sweet people. I remember when I was in Malaysia going somewhere on the bus there was Pakistani family they turned up really late taking their sweet time after one of the stops didn't even apologize or say anything for keeping us waiting and I later remember dad listening to him speak very loudly and obnoxiously to his family in Urdu right behind me and saying Malaysia is nothing next to Dubai and saying how impressive the malls and skyscrapers back home are compared to here.
I remember rolling my eyes and listening to him go on and thinking why the hell did you even bother to come here ? we were visiting natural/cultural places lol that really sums up many Pakistanis for me sadly ignorant and vapid people with no manners or appreciation for what actually matters.
