We don't have much land bro, and it's not wise to convert farmland or forests into urban areas if we want to protect the environment and ensure food security. However, the new Bangabandhu Shilpha Nagar is about 150-200 km^2 in total length and is mainly reclaimed land from the sea. It will be a massive industrial city in Bangladesh. Similarly, new townships like Purbachal for commercial-residential purposes are also growing up in and around Dhaka, just like now-integrated areas of Dhaka were, such as Uttara or Gulshan. Existing cities like Sylhet and Cox's Bazar will probably grow much larger with growing economy.

Bangladesh has overtaken Pakistan which is slightly below BD at 37.2% and was until recently the most urbanized country in South Asia.

Now you are changing picture. The first image you posted is this-

One can clearly see the patronas twin tower which are much longer than the tower you are now posting. Plus look at the surroundings, do they match? Obviously No. The most obvious is, your earlier picture contain very high Petronas twin tower with 2 antenna at their top while surrounding buildings have no antenna. Your new pictures show 3 mid rise building with 3 antenna at the top which may be from Bangalore.

This one is a very impressive skyline, and is obviously KL. The other ones aren't really impressive at all. They just look like normal buildings you can find everywhere lol.

Part of the reason is that our rural folks have more kids than urban folks. And our urban to rural ratio compared to Bangladesh is only going to decrease since Pakistan's fertility rate is 3.5 kids per woman vs Bangladesh's 2.1. And ofcourse, there is then women participation in work force which in case of Pakistan is 22% and 38% for Bangladesh, I think.

I've always thought Dhaka was a bit too crowded and populous to function properly. Though, I've stayed mainly in hotels in Gulshan and Uttara during my visits (been like 10-12 times), so probably don't even know the "actual picture" which may be worse. Chittagong is a nice place to live though, can't complain. Fairly large city close to nature, though its more crowded now than in the 2000s, and now you even have water logging which was non-existent just 10 years back. It has a very 'Rangoon' vibe to it, and generally tranquil and calm for the most part. Probably going to be the new commercial hub on par with Dhaka in a few decades. The CDA is definitely more effective planner than RAJUK lol.

These RAJUK planners and permit people who are in charge of zoning and planning should be lined up in a row and shot.

All these haramkhors ever did was supply permits flouting every zoning law in the book, in exchange of bribes. Kutta harami. No one in leadership cared.

Dhaka is the epitome of shameful urban mismanagement. "Busti" is the right word.

Lack of family planning is real issue in our case.

Educated women have a way to earn their own incomes and don't have to depend on a man's income.

That way they control if/when they get pregnant. Children also have better health outcomes.

Women's education is key. That priority should be front and center.
