What's new

The last time China got into a fight with Vietnam,it was a Disaster

Lots of luck now, US-EU want a closer relationship with VN now, France wanna translate high-tech to VN, we soon will get rich

Oil rig is a good reason for VN to make a closer relationship with US-EU and receive more help plus technology transfer from them :P

In other words no luck kicking our rig out.

Nothing wrong with supporting friends and allies. We should get closer ties with Vietnam. They need more offensive power to punch deep together with their allies in case Chinese aggression exceeds the threshold.

Nothing has worked for Vietnam so far. The only success they had up to this point was their successful looting and murdering inside Vietnam.

Indian and turkey sore-faces can dream what can be dreamed about. Last time I checked, India was still a third rate dirty bag and turkey suffers serious threats from both inside and outside. When Syria finishes with insurgency inside, Mr. Assad will deal with turkeys to the North quite nicely.

Then they can recruit "Yuuguirs" to fight the Kurds and Arabs.

China can easily destabilize you by supporting Kurdish insurgency that seems to be reviving again.

The Viets are still getting mad about our sabotage on their ambitious conquest of the Indochina.

But this time, we will also sabotage the decades fruitful outcomes of their economic reform.
Half of Laotian is VNese- we control Camb's army, u think Laos with half of its population is VNese will support China when the fact that Laos was gainst China in 1979 ?? Okay then, keep deluding urself , we dont care

If Cambodia and Laos are truly pro-Vietnam, then you should already have your 'Greater Indochina' being fortified. :pop:

In long term: France -US will will VN more support :pop:

China control the water flow of Mekong river, so it'd better to let Chinese think Laos-Camb r their 'allies', so they can not stop the Mekong flow to harm VN

China controls the source of the Red River, so it can turn your North Vietnam into a desert without it. :coffee:

Gosh! So the whole drama in the Chinese waters was a masterful long-term strategy of the Vietnamese to give an end to the illegal workers in Vietnam?

Such a long shot!

You know what, when you get excited and began to jump up and down, you had in fact no idea about how deep you would be buried under mud.

Your government is incapable of containing mobs. Otherwise, we know, your government would be the last to see such self-looting and murder happening. Because, pragmatically:

1. It weakens your own economic basis

2. Takes away some of the aurora of a victim played by the Vietnamese. One cannot be at once a murderer and a victim.

I remember in 1979 when the enemy declared that they would march to Ha Noi in 1 day :sniper:We bitch slapped them and their Khmer Rouge ally. We stayed in Cambodia for 10 years and established a democracy republic of Cambodia that still stands today. We put 5 divisions in Laos in 1987 to save Laos from being reannexed by the Thai and our Laotian friends are still grateful for that till today.

The author is probably one of those non-Chinese who never knows that Vietnam has won every military conflict against China since 938 A.D (938, 981, 1076, 1427, 1789, 1979). I don't even count the 3 semi Mongol-Chinese invasions that we defeated them in 1258, 1285, 1288. While the rest of the world is being proud of beating a few banana republics, we have a history of beating countries who are 50 times larger than us. We talk the talk and walk the walk throughout our history. We will continue to carry the legacy of our ancestors

If anyone need official statement of Laos and Cambodia ... please contact their embassy or their head of state or prime minister for their opinion ...

Don't lie as your sick mental thinking ... about China helped Cambodia and Laos to be free from Vietnam by 1979 invasion ...
Actually, Vietnam stopped the bloody hands of Chinese advisors and Khmer Rouge to massacre to last person of Cambodia ... No Cambodian doubts about that ... They just dislike about Vietnam troops stay 10 years more after the liberation.

China has never declared it would march to Hanoi. The official Chinese stance from the day one has been "counter striking against Vietnam incursion into our territory". The reason behind this stance is several fold:

1. There is no benefit to capture Hanoi. The political environment of the day will not allow annexation of Vietnam by China, thus a full on occupation serves no purpose.
2. The main motivation behind of the timing is to prevent Vietnam from conquering the rest of Southeast Asia. Basically, after the Vietnam war, Vietnam is left as the most powerful nation in Southeast Asia. Giving time and without outside interference, it would be fully capable of bringing the rest of Southeast Asia under its control and create a country that at least rivaling India in size and strength. There is no way China would have let it happen.

Basically, the Chinese goal behind the whole thing is to remove Vietnam's ability to become a strong regional power. This is done by applying continuous military pressure and exhaust Vietnam's military and economic potential. To this end, continued military bombardment and offense lasted more than 10 years after 1979 and China never used more than two provinces at the same time in the offense. The result is quite clear. Due to the continued warfare, Vietnam missed the golden window in the 1980s to let its economy take off. By the time open military action has finally ceased, Vietnam economy and military strength has shrunken to a level smaller than Indonesia and Malaysia or even Thailand.

If you understand Chinese, you will understand that when the Chinese gets vindictive, we don't go for the painful, but short open wound scenario, because that has little lasting impact. What we do is slow methodical approach that destroys your foundation as a nation. That has been the Chinese approach in 1979 and that has been the same approach in the South China sea conflicts today.
