The Muslims of the subcontinent were rejected by Afghans during the Hijrat movement in the 1920s. Many came back robbed of the few possessions they had, robbed of their dignity and robbed of their perceived Islamic brotherhood.

Had Afghans welcomed the refugees into their country there would be no Pakistan. Afghanistan would be a prosperous country with a strong polar attraction of all the Muslims in the region.

But they rejected them and ultimately failed the test. They are paying the price for their treachery to their faith and God. They will suffer for hundreds of years as a result. An older country than Pakistan and have been reduced to chaotic rubble. Their history completely maligned and corrupted. You could say NOW THEIR DIGNITY HAS BEEN STRIPPED FROM THEM LIKE THEY STRIPPED OUR FOREFATHERS DIGNITY during the movement.

Lets look at Pakistan as another example. For a thousand years we Muslims of the subcontinent have suffered at the hands of Afghan rulers, Hindu rulers, British rulers. We have been subjected to extreme physical and mental torture for A THOUSAND YEARS. Yet here we are, letting the Hindus pray in their temples, Sikhs pray in their temples, welcoming Afghan refugees into our home and anyone else seeking shelter from the suffering of this world.

And the rewards, a young country, a poor country but impenetrable. Who would have thought such a poor pathetic nation could muster the courage and the will to develop nukes and an army capable of crushing any intruder. Even the mighty civilizations of Iran and Turkey couldn't manage this feat. They are virtually defenseless with all their vast history and might and wisdom.

Why is this so? Was this Pakistan passing the test? Was it divine intervention? Has Pakistan become the people God has trusted in just like the persecuted Jews during Moses? Have Afghanistan been shunned away to a eternity of misery and suffering because they didn't partake in their duties during the Hijrat movement? Controversially has God turned his back on them? @Atanz @Samandri

I would also like Daeesh orientated and Afghans reading this to really think about what I have just stated. I hope this will be the catalyst to begin repenting for your misdemeanors for which there are plenty.

Our lord tests those people the most who he loves, that is why the Prophets were tested the most and that is why Most Muslims are facing hardships, but be patient brothers; in the end it will all work out; weather in this world or the after.

"Hijrat movement was an emotional and ill advised movement and it had no potential to have constructive result. Majority of Ulema and leaders of public opinion did not approve, including Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, Habib-ur-Rehman, Hakeem Ajmal khan, Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum khan and Alama Inayatullah khan. Hijrat movement ended in misery for the Muslims because it was unplanned and was based on the emotions and had not taken into account the realities of Afghanistan. It was an unwise act of Muslims of Sub-continent lost their lives, home, crops and cattle. It was act of serious blunder of Muslims not looking into consequences and made them from poor to poorer. Muslims were at the brink of disaster and facing Hindu opposition because they had nothing in India now as they sold whatever they had. Sincere and zealous Muslims suffered severe hardships; however Hijrat movement reinforced the total commitment of Muslims sacrifice for the ideology, principles and teaching of Islam."

Hijrat Movement (1920) - History PakHistory Pak

Not sure how accurate this site is and my personal knowledge from history class is a bit rusty. But the thing is, most probably it was the Afghan government (King at that time) which closed its borders, not the Afghan people. Just like today, its the governments (which are unelected or not properly elected i.e. Ayub, Yahya, Bhutto, Zia, Mush etc) that go to war, not the common people. So I find it very hard to believe that the average Afghan is being shafted in his rear end because his great grand father couldn't afford to host his Muslim brethren from India in his mud hut with his two goats back in the 1920s.

Lets not twist and murder history. It was actually the Afghan King Amanullah who encouraged Hijrat movement, he was hoping for professional and skilled workers from India to assist him in his modernization program. But bulk of some 18000 Indian muslims who crossed into Afghanistan, were poor and unskilled workers and it was hard to settle them. Some immigrants were settled in Kunduz and Balkh, some made their way into Soviet union and Europe while majority of them returned back to their homes .

Afghan King had already informed the Khilafat committee that Afghanistan would be unable to accommodate very large influx of humanity, so the border, which was opened in March 1920 , was closed in August 1920.

At first the majority of muhajirin came from Sindh but by July overwhelming majority hailed from settled districts of NWFP.

Why dont you tag the right ppl ? @A-Team
As for your ramblings/rantings are concerned ppl, organizations , countries every thing goes through a cycle of up and downs. 100 years is too less to judge a country.

.
Instead of armed Jihad against British, the maulvis opted for easy choice............the escape

. .
Pakistan is great because it is the successor of the Indus Valley civilization

.
That's intellectual dishonesty, they fought most of time in NWFP.
I was talking about the maulvis or pseudo-maulvis of interior India who declared India Dar-ul-harb and suggested mass migration to Afghanistan.

By the way Bacha Khan, who you despise, was active leader of Hijrat movement , he organized privately funded committee to host and support all the muhajireen coming to Peshawar before departing to Afghanistan. He traveled to Kabul as part of Hijrat movement (led caravan consisting of 500 people) and met Amanullah. It was the failure of Hijrat movement , which motivated Bacha Khan to form Khudai Khidmatgar.

These Indian Muhajireen were supposed to become Afghan citizens. Afghan government founded two colonies for them , one in Jabal-us-siraj in Parwan province and another in Katghan in Balkh. Beside inhospitable terrain, another reason that muhajireen chickened out was because Kabul government announced that three regiments of Muhajireen are to be enlisted in Afghan army.

so Muhajirs were so cowards that they just ran away to avoid enlisting.

Afghanistan has harsh environment and limited resources, that's why flow of population is towards east.

Just to make it clear what I stated here is completely tongue in cheek.

I am just trying to play devils advocate on the narrative TTP have created about Pakistan and for people who still think turning a blind eye to NATO's invasion of Afghanistan is seen as an action against Islam.

We can rework this narrative in many ways so Lal masjid types please stop living in a fools paradise.

Interesting...never knew this.
Over the last few years, I've begun to despise how terrible our history textbooks are. More focus on memorizing dates and names than actually learning history. The most we were taught about the Hijrat movement was that it was a reaction to the British treatment of the Ottoman Empire and the Muhajireen were turned back by the Afghans. The end. Drill that and 100 more pages of bare, dull facts into your head, spit it onto a paper and congrats, you get an A*!

it is virtually impossible for a country like afghanistan to be prosperous
the character of the people aside
its geography is all based on highland and deserts
these are the worst types of terrains if you want to develop a successful culture and economy
so afghanistan is always going to be a capital poor country
there is a lot of hype about its natural resources
but even if there are any sufficient deposits, it is going to be a logistical nightmare to extract and then transport them
not to mention afghanistan is landlocked
so afghanistan is always going to be a poor country with poor infrastructure
