Congress approved an additional $ 143 million in the Pentagon budget for the expansion and rehabilitation of the Mowaffak al-Salti strategic base.

A US military bulletin revealed that Congress approved additional funding for the Pentagon to expand and rehabilitate a Jordanian military base, amid evidence that this comes within the scope of gradual replacement of the military base in Qatar.

A huge budget

Congress approved a few days ago to add $ 143 million to the Pentagon's budget to upgrade the strategic Mowaffak al-Salti base, which lies close to the Jordanian border with Syria and Iraq, the military magazine STRIPS & STARS said.

The Jordanian military base played a major role in American and international military operations during the years of bombing of the former Al-Qaeda organization.

The military bulletin suggested that the expansion and rehabilitation of the base in Jordan should be done in a gradual phase out of the main activities carried out by Al-Adeed after the Arab boycott of Qatar created a new reality that called for the search for possible alternatives.

US President Donald Trump, when he supported Saudi Arabia and the boycott countries' claims to Qatar of their sponsorship of terrorism and the alliance with Iran, clearly talked about the existence of 10 alternatives to the Al-Adeed base, which Washington would discuss.

The statement added that although US Defense Secretary James Matisse said earlier that there are no intentions to replace the Al-Adeed base, but the continuation of the Arab boycott of Qatar and the developments of military action by "Al-Adeed" in the management of operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, makes the base Muwafaq al-Salti Jordan gradually replace it.

The base includes the headquarters of the United States Central Command, the 83rd Expeditionary Force, and the 379th Infantry Wing, with a total strength of 11,000 troops and about 100 operational aircraft.

" STRIPS & STARS" magazine report of the US Atomic Energy Agency, that the base Mowafaq Salti needs a lot of allocations and programming to replace "Al-Adeed base" even partially and gradually.

The report added that the Muwaffaq al-Salti base now operates at four to five times its capacity during the beginning of the war on Daesh, but to mitigate the dangers of neighboring countries with military operations (Syria and Iraq), to support the influx of employees and military personnel, The new life at the base must be strengthened; to include facilities and infrastructure in support of emerging responsibilities.

The US nuclear watchdog justified Congress's decision to allocate $ 143 million to rehabilitate the Jordanian base for these new missions, which the various reports agreed to be a gradual replacement of Al-Adeed base.

US troops remain in Syria

The Washington Post published a report a few days ago confirming that the administration of President Donald Trump is moving to maintain military forces in Syria, in large numbers, after the completion of the defeat of Daesh in his well-known headquarters ; Which increased the likelihood of the adoption of the base in Jordan gradually as a substitute for the "Al-Adeed" base in Qatar.

Al-Adeed base won't be totally eliminated.. it is far too important, but some other bases will be upgraded to carry out some of the tasks allocated to it ..
Therefore, the Qatari race in armament; 36 F-15QA, 24 Rafale and 24 Typhoons.. on top of stealth naval corvettes and much more.. plus the expansion of the Turkish base and even an approach to Russia for some military systems. They, obviously had a prior knowledge of the American plan..
