Now they have even better option like F-22 and may be anti-satellite missiles. But I guess China excels in that as it destroyed its own weather satellites using anti-satellite-missile system with kinetic warhead

Well---you have to look at it this way---they had this option since the mid 80's.

What do they have now to disable satellites---!!!

China destroyed a satellite by firing missile from the earth surface and achieve what US done with aircraft getting in the vicinity of the satellite.
It seems more of an American chest thumping while China's achievement was remarkable - US made too much hue and cry on China's achievement was a proof that the Chinese act taken them with surprise.

This is where you are wrong.

Space is less than 70 miles, or 100 kilometers, from Earth surface. The US method is superior because the anti-satellite fighter squadron can be deployed practically anywhere in the world. The ASAT missile can be made smaller because part of that distance is borned by the launch aircraft.

As satellite path is predictable, we can launch at least two ASAT missiles per mission to guarantee success.

We cancelled the program because of money allocated elsewhere, but essentially, 35 yrs ago we went past the 'proof of concept' stage and readied to go operational testing. Now imagine with today's avionics technology, what a single B-52 can do...

Depends upon nuemerous factors and the type of satellite.

American SBIRS and DSP class satellites have autonomous course re-adjustment capability as in they will try to evade an incoming object by altering their trajectory. Additionally, they are extremely hardened and can withstand stresses of a nuclear blast near them.

Bear in mind that the aformentioned is top secret information; you won't find much details on the web.

Furthermore, easy to shoot down your own satellite because its coordinates are known to you.

American surveillance network is unparalleled in reach and capability. Expect lot of surprises there.

In theory...But not in practice.

Am not an Army guy but I am a gun owner. If you want to be merely proficient -- not a master -- of your rifle, try passing about 1,000 rounds thru the barrel.

How many practice satellites are there for a planned ASAT system?

No, we do not need 1,000 ASAT tests. But the point is clear, that an ASAT weapon system, outside of nuclear, is the second most difficult project to accomplish. The most difficult is how to destroy a post WW II aircraft carrier. When you think about it, we shot down more satellites than sink a post WW II aircraft carrier.

But if we want to talk about methods, then the air launched method is the best, especially in terms of flexibility.
