Does Turkey have any thermobaric weapons in it's arsenal it can use against PKK tunnels, camps, caves and bunkers in the mountainous regions?
There isn't a better time than now to take on the PKK network in Iraq and SE Turkey.
The nights are starting to get longer and winter isn't too far off so most terrorists will start returning to their mountain hideouts. But this winter will be different to most previous years.
The Americans have their own agenda in Syria which they aren't being open about and will require the YPG to go beyond Raqqa once it falls, likely all the way to the Iraqi border. Many of the YPG fighters and commanders are PKK terrorists and for the time being at least, will draw them away from Turkey and their winter camps and into the Syrian desert.
The KRG and Baghdad are about to clash over the Kurdistan independence referendum in September which will probably get violent and distract both their forces. The PKK are going to try and exploit the fighting to make gains which will require them to stay out in the open over the winter.
So with a large portion of the PKK preoccupied with Syria and Iraq I think this will be the perfect time to clear out the PKK's Qandil base. Preventing them from recouping their forces, restocking and planning for next springs attacks in Turkey.
