The Fate of Turkey
Written by: @Abdullah Fazeel

Turkey, a currently rising country in the world. An aspiration & hope for muslim countries as it represents Muslim Nation and their crisis on international platform. It had to pass through a lot of dilemmas and hardships to become a representative. Turkish history is full of catastrophic events. One of these such events was coup d’état attempt. The most violent military Coup in Turkish history.

It was a clear night of July dated 15, year 2016. Nothing extra ordinary was expected. It was about 9:00 p.m. when Salic Zeki Çolak, the commander of Turkish land force was apprehended at military headquarter. Simultaneously, head of air force AbidinÜnal was abducted from a wedding ceremony in Istanbul. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the president was at holidays at Marmaris. The clock showed approximately 11:00 p.m. Streets were about to quiet. Explosions reverberated suddenly, prey was police air force and special forces headquarters, city Ankara, Bombs hurled from the helicopters hovering over was the cause. 42 deaths & 43 injuries were the outcome of the first attack. 12:02a.m. of 16th July reported the took over of Turkish national public broadcaster (TRT), Anchor named Tijen Karaş was enforced to read out “Democratic &secular rule of law has been eroded by current government.”

Instead, the truth of attack was aired by Tijen Karaş. Erdoğan had already took off at 11:40 p.m. but the plane kept wandering as Ataturk Airport was captured. 12:23 a.m. marked with the first message from Erdorgan later, at 1:00 a.m. he did an interview with a CNN Turk. He stimulated supporters to flood the streets against imposed curfew. “There is no power higher than the power of public” these were Erdorgan’s words. Public acceded to president's plea. A wave of rage soon thronged the streets with people having kitchen utensils as weapons.1:00 a.m. reported the dislodge of force from airport 1:13 a.m. marked with the sounds of heavy fires of tanks, when people tried to enter inside. Landing of Erdoğan’s plane was made possible at 2:50 a.m. when pro-government forces cleared a part of airport. Airport was completely recaptured at 5:18 a.m. after several skirmishes. Later tanks fired on parliament building and helicopters from the top showered bullets. A message of complete control popped up on army website at 3:10 a.m. simultaneously at 3:12 a.m. Prime Minister Yildirim rejected the statement. The hotel where Erdoğan stayed was bombarded by 2 or 3 helicopters. Fortunately, he had left a moment before. This all was done by a group from Turkish armed forces. Approximately it comprised of 1.5 % of Turkish force. The resistance of civilians and pro-government officers at last turned out to be successful in failing the coup. Coup appeared on to be crumbled in early hours of 16th. It mentioned with the surrender of pro-coup soldiers at Taksim square, 50 soldiers blocking Bosporus bridge & about 700 soldiers at headquarter.

Reasons of failure

· Hiken Fidam, intelligence head, happened to know about the plot. So, the coupists were forced to execute it six hours before of schedule.

h One of the main organizers, Semih Terzi was shot dead by loyalist sgt. Maj Ömer Halisdemir.

These two events highly disturbed the coordination between coupists. Had the coup been launched at original time at mid night, much of population would have been sleeping so, they were free from public resistance in execution. Moreover, the soldiers mobilized by rebels were unaware of their true purpose which made it easy for them to become demoralized & surrender.

h According to Edward N. Luttwak the basic reason was inability of coupists to neutralize high ranking government officials.

· Author of “Seizing Power”, Naunihal Singh stated the fail of coupists to secure media control as basic reason of putsch failure.

Civilian’s role

Civilians indeed played an important role in the failure of coup. Citizens were messaged & called by pro-government forces for protest. Simultaneously night sela prayers were repeatedly recited across the country to encourage people. Crowd of people on streets proved to be a huge resistance in the way of coup.

Behind the coup

G
eneral Akin Ozturk, TAF Commander was reported as a leader of coup attempt. Later he was sentenced to life in prison on 20 June 2019. Government blamed Fethullah Gülen as the mastermind of putsch. Whereas Gülenists claim it as a self or fake coup arranged by government itself.
Losses
It resulted in 270-350 deads & 2185 injured. Moreover a lot of government buildings including parliament & presidential palace were damaged severely.

Sry dude, didnt read everything but a lot of what you wrote is wrong, like MIT knew about the coup in advance, if that was the case then they would warn Erdogan instead of his relative.
And they would also warn general Akar who was apparently held hostage.

There are many fishy things about this coup to begin with though.

As a observor I don't think there was anything fishy. It was your typical military coup led by reactionary officers who made terrible misatake by failing to gauge the public mood and support Erdogan enjoyed. The clique lost it's nerve and launched the coup prematurely which is why it came across as amaturish.

Excellent effort:agree:
Gentlemen, it gives me immense pleasure when I see members who try to share what they are learning about other countries through provided sources of information.
Turkey is a brotherly country of Pakistan and the love I have for Turks has no words. Beautiful people, beautiful culture, splendid competitiveness, understand challenges, having excellent military and most importantly having ability to hit & knock down enemy faces right from the front , they are trustable friends, peers and colleagues. Also, they are very humble people.
I want our turk members to read this article very carefully , scrutinize the paragraphs and represent corrections with neutral sources as we are planning to publish article.
Also, help this kid to understand where has he fallen for disinformation (if they find any)

Regards

The fishy part is how many events aready had explanation (some even just hours after the coup) without a investigation of any kind, its basically one party saying ''you did this'' and everybody just accepts it.

Before anyone accuses me of being ''fetöcü'' no i dont support them, it hated them before you did, im just saying we need a real/independent investigation of the events which wont happen as long as this goverment is in power.

The reason im saying this is above.

Is it possible or are you possibly hinting that it might be Erdogan's administration behind this coup in the sense to quote Brzezinski it was "we did not push for it but we knowingly increased the probability that they would". The motive being so that it gave Erdogan a chance purge the country and consolidate his power.

And of course all this is speculation so nobody should hold you for your opinion.

Air Force commander Abidin UNAL with so called coup leader Akin Ozturk, they are together at that night but one of them was become hero and the other one got sentenced for life in jail,

this coup was staged by Erdogan and his alies, unfortunately no one cares about it anymore because we have other headachs.

Well looking at the outcome the coup helped Erdogan the most so quoting Brzezinski ist that far off.
As said, i wont exclude any possibility as long as there is no independent investigation about it which wont happen as long as Turkey has a conservative goverment.

Interesting info, its new to me. There are tonns of such events that just dont fit into the mainstream narrative.

pay attention to the video Akin Ozturk was walking just behind the Air Force Commander UNAL as a show respect!

Unal claimed that he was a hostage by hands of putschits. even only this video can say that it was a staged coup.

Someone at MIT has known that,i doubt if the chief has known the exact date but it wasn't a coincidence that some of my office-mates at an institution related to defence industry ,who were prisoned after coup, took an annual leave right before 15 July for returning back 24 July, it was suspicious since they were followers of fethullah and they were applying for annual leaves for going back to their hometowns about the same time. The coup attempt was definitely known, except when exactly it was about to happen.
There are two possibilities;
-coup was expected to happen later, erdogan has got intelligence regarding to that and would be prepared by the time when it comes. And coup has happened earlier when feto has realized erdogan knows it, his relative has warned him about that because probably people at MIT was thinking of it as a false information (or blocked flow of the information).
-he has known it, laid down and waited feto members to take action so he could disband feto flawlessly without reaction from the world.
The second option is stronger, but first one suits perfectly to behavior of coup.
Aggressive acts at coup was definitely sign of being unplanned, it was so amateur that you can realize, an army which is professional at coups wouldn't be such :). Shooting people after-awhile, bombing places randomly was definitely made for shaking image of Turkish Army.
I believe they have used some of high rank officials in army (who were shown on televisions all the day round) as baits to save their own fellas. And government was happy to have someone whom they can display as guilty of the action.

Just to be clear im not disputing who was behind the coup.

Erdogan doesnt need to stage the coup, it was going to happen and he has managed the progress well on his and country's favor. He could or couldnt have stopped it earlier but the coup was needed to get rid of feto. He either let it happen to clean feto, or surprised that it has happened earlier.

Just to be clear im not disputing who was behind the coup.
Neither i am ,mate :)
