Do you think the US will attack Iran any time soon? We heard something different from the Iranian president today than what he had been saying prior to the elections.

It depends on US domestic politics. If they want they could bomb Iran's nuclear facilities to dust. Their Air force does not even stand a chance. Also since ayatollah seem to be going nowhere, they won't have any worry about weakening opposition by uniting Iranians behind Ayatollah.They are very well capable of doing Iraq on Iran.

But i don't think it would happen under Obama's presidency.

Israel could bomb Iran but it won't be able to sustain it so Iranians could rebuild their facilities .

EDIT: Iranian PM is probably bluffing.

We have not attacked gilgit-balatistan in 1965 nor in 1971.Thought there was a skirmish in zojila pass in 1948 which we won by transporting disassembled tanks to ladakh and assembling and using them in that battle.

I too don't like ayatollah's policy. He is just a benevolent version of Kim jong Ill. bur probably from POV of our selfish national interests, a theocratic shia regime in tehran is good for us.

It means that they would not be able to forge a alliance with pakistan. ( Shah sent his planes to aid pakistan in 1971 and sheltered PAF in Iran after India has routed it to prevent it's complete destruction). Also it keeps SA well behaved as they would not want India to go into Iranian camp.
