The Economist - Discrepancy in Dhaka

1.Before the English came we had a fine judiciary. Judges were selected for strength of character above all other criterion. They would summon the monarch, the aristocrats and high officials when required - and these summons were honored. Miscarriage of justice was unheard of. The same is the case in S Arabia and UAE where nobody has heard of a miscarriage of justice. The reason is simple. The magistrate/judge binds himself to no earthly authority but considers himself answerable to the Creator for all his actions.

2. And now we have adopted the English Common Law although we are not English in any way. We have the capitalist system of judicial administration where the legal authorities are really the mafia fleecing people through various mechanism.

Yes, Canadian judges are answerable to the creator that is why you choose to live there.:lol:
