The Roman soldiers were first captured by the Huns. Chinese general Chen Tang fought a battle with the Huns at the present day Taraz, Karzakstan in the year of 36BC, and recaptured over a thousand of the "Roman soldiers". They were brought back to China and placed in the place that later Han emperor named it as "LiGan county" that means Roman at thayt time.
The decendants of these LiGan people were later known as warriors that fought with different army formations and used huge shields, as well as pilum weapons.
However, genetic typing of haplotypes does not correlate these people to Italians but to the central asians.
