The Beginning of the End for Hezbollah

the writer is not a specialist of the region. Lebanese have different opinions.-
Mr. Totten lived in Lebanon for some months in 2005, returns periodically, and has since written and traveled throughout the Mideast including Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Israel, Tunisia, and Turkey. He's interviewed Lebanese widely, including Hezbollah members and its official spokesman before the Hezbols took fright and clammed up.

I'm not sure what other qualifications you think he needs to be a "specialist" - learn to cook French-Lebanese cuisine, maybe?

I didn't know much about Lebanon when i arrived in France . But i discovered a lot in a forum specialized in foreign policy where a real specialist is there.
You can see clearly the difference. This guy is not giving much information but it is a lot of blabla.
Again i don't mean i like Hezbollah i don't like at all but say him a specialist is hard to believe.

I know many people who travel to countries and they don't say themselves be a specialist of the country.
As said me an Israeli friend who is in the same forum and knows the Lebanese guy giving informations, for him it is funny to see journalists saying themselves specialists when as he said : they don't speak the local language, they don't know any important figure and didn't make efforts to see all sides to understand. But what is making him laugh is see "specialists" of Palestine not speaking Arab and specialist of Israel who live in hotels and don't speak Hebrew

Mr. Totten speaks Arabic and French, I believe, and as near as I can recall has interviewed at least two leaders of Lebanese political factions. He's also modest and shares the critique you cite. He prefers to refer to himself as a "writer" rather than a "journalist".

(I can see you're quite interested so you might want to peruse his blog of reports of his past trips to the region. And maybe click the "paypal" button afterward.)

i like very much Amin Maalouf writer

Wish my French was up to reading his work untranslated.

“What makes me myself rather than anyone else is the very fact that I am poised between two countries, two or three languages, and several cultural traditions. It is precisely this that defines my identity. Would I exist more authentically if I cut off a part of myself”
― Amin Maalouf,

10 Years ago we started seeing articles about Pakistan breakup, north will goto Russian, west to Afghanistan, Iran will take Baloahistan and Sind will goto India with Central punjab Left as Pakistan and bla bla bla US plans about it with secretly published maps.

Syria is being cut like a pie , hezbollah is up for the grabs

No matter what happens, Syria will keep her borders. So will Lebanon.

I think the confusion is in what his specialty is. He is a travel writer, not a defense or security specialist. He seems to have the knowledge that a decent travel writer would...

A title, The Beginning of the End of Israel, would have been more appropriate.

Another Muslim squatting in the west talking about destroying countries.

Your tin-pot country is practically flooded all year round and you want to talk about destroying countries.

Stick to exporting rice and we'll stick to making the computers you use to spout your *****. :smokin:

We destroyed your air force in 1967. Remember Saif? Saiful Azam, then of PAF?

Hezbollah is dragging Lebanon into the Syrian civil war and it will lead to Hezbollah's downfall. The rebels already said it would enter Lebanon and target some of the Southern Lebanon areas to stop Hezbo from coming into Syria.

Dont tell me this guys an "expert" on Hezbollah like the the foremost expert from US who has never met a single member of Hezbollah.
A bit hard for the al qaeda supporters to bear but president Assad is winning now.......dont hear that much news now do you of "rebel" gains.

What do you mean? you'll ask Hamas to attack Hezbollah ?
No seriously, without any insult, i don't understand how Hezbollah can "pay the price" ??? except if jihadists come in Lebanon and create terror in the country.
Can you explain me?

Let me explain again, for the past week Hezbocunts intervened Qusayr Homs and they'll be weakened because the Free Syrian Army are entered Lebanon without a choice. The Lebanese army made an excuse saying "we don't have the capability to confront Hezbollah". Secondly, in only two days a large number of Lebanese joined against Hezbo after three days ago Sheikh Ahmad Assir called Jihad against them. So, what do you think? the Syrians are entering South Lebanon to stop them and the Lebanese are entering Qusary Homs and South Lebanon to fight against them. This is clear that Hezbo will be outnumbered and could struggle to cope from both side. Hezbo dragged Lebanon into this. Not the Lebanons fault.
