4 security men, 43 Taliban militants killed in clashes in Pakistan

Peshawar: Four paramilitary troopers and 43 Taliban fighters were killed in clashes after militants carried out an attack to the stop the movement of security forces in the restive Orakzai tribal region of northwest Pakistan

Militants attacked the security forces with automatic weapons and mortars in Sawar Kot area of Orakzai Agency. Four paramilitary personnel and 43 militants were killed in a subsequent gun battle.

A dozen security personnel were injured in the clash, officials said.
Troops have launched an operation code-named "Khwakh Ba De Shum" (I will see you) in Orakzai Agency to flush Taliban fighters out of the region.

Yesterday, three security personnel and 10 Taliban fighters were killed in a clash that erupted after militants ambushed a security forces vehicle at Kasha village in Orakzai Agency.

PESHAWAR/MINGORA/ SWAT: Around 43 Taliban were killed in clashes with security forces in the Orakzai Agency on Tuesday, sources said.

Terrorists attacked the security forces with lethal weapons and mortar shells in the Sawar Kot area in the Upper Orakzai Agency. Around 43 terrorists were killed in this gunbattle with the security forces. At least 12 soldiers were also injured in the shootout. The security forces have launched Operation ‘Khwakh Ba De Shum’ (I Will See You) in the Orakzai Agency, which has remained largely successful.

Separately, five terrorists were killed in separate incidents in the Swat Valley. According to sources, three terrorist commanders were killed in clashes with security forces in the Miandam area. The security forces also seized a large number of weapons from them. In another gunbattle, Muhammad Ilyas, a close aide of Mullah Fazlullah was killed at the Gat Papuchar area in tehsil Matta, sources said.

39 Taliban, soldier killed in Orakzai Agency

HANGU: At least 39 Taliban were killed by security forces in fighting in Orakzai Agency on Wednesday.

Official sources said one soldier was killed, while 15 others were injured in the fighting.

Fifteen militants were killed during a clash in the Dabori Ali Khel area in upper Orakzai. Five security personnel were also injured in the fighting.

In a separate incident, 24 Taliban were killed in the Hatango area. An official said the militants attacked a security checkpost at around 11am with small arms and rockets, prompting retaliation from the security forces that killed 24 insurgents.

Security forces also destroyed two Taliban hideouts. The clashes happened in the militant stronghold that was captured by the security forces last month.

Violence has continued in Orakzai despite the army’s announcement earlier this month that it had defeated Taliban militants in the area. Over 600 militants and about two dozen security personnel have been killed in fighting so far.

orakzai has been / is very troublesome in therms of 'clearing ops' for the army in comparison to previous ops - if this is a 'harbinger' to what the military will have to face if / when they move into NWA is very disturbing. it seems that the hard-core taliban are putting a 'tough front' in denying the army free access to NWA.

it is therefore 'understandable', that the army is thinking 'long and hard' before they move into NWA. someone called it the 'final frontier' and it may as well be.
 
Troops kill eight suspected militants in Orakzai

PESHAWAR: Security forces killed eight suspected militants in fresh attacks in the Orakzai tribal region, DawnNews reported.

Official sources said troops attacked militant hideouts in Upper Orakzai's Ghandakai area.

Two training facilities and several insurgent hideouts were destroyed in the action, sources said.

Ten militants killed in spar with troops in Orakzai

At least ten militants have been killed in a clash with the security forces during the ongoing military offensive in Orakzai Agency on Friday, a private TV reported.

Sources said that the miscreants assailed a security forces’ checkpost in Anjani area of Orakzai Agency injuring two security personnel.

The troops repulsed the attack and shelled the militants’ hideouts. Resultantly, ten militants were killed while many of their hideouts got destroyed.

On Thursday, 8 militants have been killed, while five others injured as security forces pounded their hideouts in Ghundki Kali, Orakzai.

Eight suspected militants killed in Orakzai

KARACHI: Security forces claim to have killed eight suspected militants during fresh military operations in Orakzai Agency on Sunday.

Security forces used fighter jets to bomb militant hideouts in the Mamuzai area of Upper Orakzai. Five suspected militants were also injured during the operation.

On Saturday, forces claimed to have killed 28 suspected militants during the military operation.

More than 1,000 militants have been killed during the military operation in Upper Orakzai since the past one month. - DawnNews
 
PESHAWAR : At least 13 extremists have been killed and seven others were injured by the security forces in Upper Orakzai Agency, Aaj News reported Monday.

According to sources, security forces during the ongoing offensive against militants in different areas of Upper Orakzai Agency have killed at least thirteen militants.
 
4 soldiers, 66 Taliban killed in Orakzai, Bajaur

HANGU: At least 66 Taliban were killed and another 30 injured in airstrikes and clashes with the security forces across the country’ northwest on Sunday, security sources said.

In Orakzai Agency, the forces said they killed at least 63 Taliban in the last 24 hours.

The sources said around 15 Taliban were killed and another six injured in a clash with the forces in the agency’s Dabori area.

Three soldiers were critically injured in the clash.

Separately, eight Taliban were killed and another 24 injured in a clash with the security forces in the Bakar Ghari area of Upper Orakzai.

Also, the sources added that fighter jets attacked a Taliban-run makeshift hospital in Upper Orakzai late on Sunday, killing 40 Taliban under treatment at the facility.

Meanwhile, in Khar, four soldiers were killed when the Taliban ambushed an army patrol in Bajaur Agency, officials told AFP.

The terrorists attacked the troops during a patrol in the border town of Kharaki, 25 kilometres north of Khar.

At least 20 militants killed in Orakzai blitz

PARACHINAR: At least 20 suspected militants were killed when fighter jets bombed insurgent hideouts in a new assault in the Orakzai tribal region where the army had previously declared victory, a government official said.

Samiullah Khan, a deputy administrator in the tribal region, said the aerial bombings Wednesday destroyed six Taliban hideouts in the region.

Khan said field informants confirmed the killing of 20 suspected militants.

Pakistan's army has been engaged in a military operation in Orakzai for months, believing it to be a hiding place for Taliban fighters fleeing another offensive further south in the tribal belt.

It declared victory there in early June, but violence persists.

Top TTP commander killed in Miranshah

PESHAWAR: A wanted Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) commander, Ameerullah Mehsud, has been killed in a clash with security forces in North Waziristan.

Ameerullah alias ‘Langra Qari’ carried a head money of Rs 20 million. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Ameerullah was killed at a security checkpost in Miranshah. Two security personnel were also injured in the clash. Mehsud was listed 11 out of 19 most-wanted TTP commanders by the government. staff report

80 percent area in Kurram Agency cleared from militants-Col Touseef

PARACHINAR, July 6 (APP): Commander Incharge Kurram Militia, Col Touseef Akhtar Tuesday claimed that 80 percent of Kurram Agency has been purged from militants while remaining area would also be cleared from the miscreants very soon.

He said this while talking with a group of newsmen air flown by FC to Parachinar, headquarters of Kurram Agency.

Briefing the newsmen about the military operation in the area, Col Touseef said Kurram Agency was divided into three zones and the brave officials of para military force forced the militants to escape from the area.

He said the militants had made the life of Kurram dwellers very miserable and innocent people were killed without any reason. The militants, he continued, had closed Tall-Parachinar road as a result of which supply of essential items including food and medicine to the agency was very nominal. In few areas, he added, fifty kg bag of wheat flour was sold at a rate of Rs. 7000 to Rs. 8000 because of the acute scarcity of the commodity.

Similarly, he added, due to shortage of wheat several people died because they were not able to get proper treatment.

The Kurram Militia, he continued, has made a resolve of combating with militants and purging the area from them. Due to firm resolve of the armed forces, the agency was not only cleared from miscreants, but the 89 kilometer Tall-Parachinar road were reopened after a gap of three years, he added.

Col Touseef informed newsmen that force have also took control of Pak-Afghan border area.

The sectarian strife in the agency was also resolved to a greater extend by holding Peace Jirga, he added.

He said in Upper Kurram, the Doogar area was cleared from militants within a fortnight. The area was in control of militants from the last two years. In Doogar, he continued, the militants had established training camps and were holding drugs business. The Doogar operation was completed on December 12, 2009 in which 18 officials embraced martyrdom and 47 were injured. While 96 militants were killed.

He informed that a wanted Taliban leader, Mullah Toofan also belonged to this area who was also killed in the operation.

He said the militants had spread terror in the region and made the life of people miserable by carrying out kidnapping and killing. However, the brave action taken by armed forces has broke their back and successfully cleared the area from miscreants.
