The Attack on Pakistan's Erieye

And here are is the tin hanger just right across where 9 terrorists crossed in.

Didn't the attack occur on the night of 27th of Ramadan? How many of the personnel were preoccupied with worship? Has the investigation looked at this aspect?

Well if that's the case, than chance of miracle can't be ruled out!

Actually, 9 loaded terrorist got killed in the end, and various explosives failed to go off.

What shall be investigated, is that who planned to build hanger at this position!

No aspect of the investigation has been made public yet, apart from the arrests, the discovery of 9 caror rupees in one of the attackers bank account and few other details.
27th Ramazan helped the terrorists from being discovered while they were transiting the inhabited area, the village behind the Airforce base.

While the report may never be released to the public, it would be reasonable to surmise that a possible preoccupation with the religious aspects of the night could have affected staffing levels and attention. It would also be a dark night given the lunar date.

All these pictures had been posted before, but now its sure that these were the hangers.

Which clearly indicate the quality of planning.

Once again the base commander himself a Pakistani.. a Muslim..should have known that...
Massive fail on his side....

This wasn't the first attack on PAC kamra, and the base commander should have been much more prepared and the Higher authorities should have spent more money on the base security as this one being a small in area and "exposed' base is also vulnerable to attacks as shown by two previous attacks on the same base...

Simple chicken wire could have saved the 220 Million dollar planes from RPG..

or something like this around the hanger...again cheap to build and nothing too technical..

^^ Shows total incompetence... complete failure.
It can't get any absurd than Kamra episode.
You had experience, warnings and it could be any ones guess on this forum, what indians wish of our AWACS and JFT production facility.
Keeping them together only add to indian celebrations.

Pakistan is flooded by indian agents and all credit goes to Rehman Malik.

No denying to Pakistan being flooded with foreign Spy agencies..
But I have some respect for Rehman Malik..I know most people dont like him,but the guy has some Brains...which is rare among our rulers...
His Mobile phone blocking tactic during important countrywide events...has been a grand success in counter terrorism...

^^ leave him alone.

Now, you also have to follow the stories printed in foreign news, where it was declared attack on nuclear arsnel.

It was fully supported job, i would not believe such a low level of vigilance can be due to any negligence.

Some in higher higher ups is surely, complacent ans same was the case in mehran attack.

and here it is...90 million Rupees fresh Transaction in one of the Kamra attack terrorists bank accounts..

Kamra Airbase attacker had Rs90 million in bank account

I doubt TTP has such collosal fundiang available...

If they paid 90 million per terrorist..There were 9 involved...and many more behind the scenes..The total funding goes to over 100 caror rupees... or over 1 Million USD...

Can TTP spend so much money?

But entirely feasible for a foreign power feeling threatened from the Erieye...1 or 2 milion dollars will be even cheaper than sending one fighter jet with a few old missiles.....

^^ Even if they had it available, why would they transfer it to the guy going on suicide mission?

Surely, they assured him safe evacuation... but that night, not every thing went according to terrorist planning.

Base-commander is highly suspicious.

This "foreign power" reasoning is purely speculative and is not a sensible line of attack. I just don't understand this logic. By foreing power you clearly mean India or US- why would either nation want these assets knocked out? If Pakistan had gone to war the next day with one of these assets minus these important assets then fine but Paksitan didn't and the dust has now settled and Pakistan is taking measures to fill in any gaps of capability that may have arisen as a result of the attack. If Pakistan is able to replace the assets then in the long term Pakistan is no worse off.The same goes for the P-3s. Now if the US had refused the sale of more P-3s or refused military aid that would eventually be spent on procuring more ERIEYES/P-3s then it would make sense because in the long run major gaps would exist in Pakistan's security apparatus but as it is all the gaps are bing filled. It makes more sense for a terror outfit to launch such an attack because they are interested in inflicting pain not so much long-term stategic goals. But as it stands is Pakistan really that much weaker today because of these two attacks?? I think not.

Going by your logic it could well be China's dirty work! The destruction of the ERIEYES could well lead to more ZDK orders and isn't it funny how Chinese personal were present at PNS MEHRAN at the time of the attacks but managed to escape completely unharmed??!!! All this attacks have arguably pushed Pakistan more to CHina. I don't believe this of course but I am only extending your argument.

Some times the simplest answer is the right one.

^^^^^ its just that these days anything and everything gets covered under the blanket terminology of terrorism,no matter who done it and why done it...

Common man, no offense but can you write anything that sounds sillier than this?? Give you an example, the US could have went into Iraq during broad day light and destroyed whatever they wanted to in Iraq. BUT, they took months prior to executing the operation and knocked down their Radar and intelligence sites. The purpose was to reduce the Iraqi military's capability and create a gap that can later be utilized as an advantage. Let's say if there was no war...you still caused the Iraqi's a LOT of financial loss and a gap in their military's capability by targeting their radar sites. In this case, this is a LOT more than just a radar site. The AWACS are tools that can let a war run with all ground based radars non-functional. The Desert Storm operation's air arm was managed and coordinated by a couple of AWACS in flight 24*7. Imagine the importance!

Similarly, trying to knock out as much of the latest AWACS technology results in GAPS in PAF's capability. It ALSO results in FINANCIAL LOSS for a poor country like Pakistan, as these are super expensive assets. It demoralizes the military when they lose such assets and puts a dent into their credibility.
It THEN makes the public feel that their military can't and won't safeguard them properly when need be. Couple this within a year of OBL raid....what do you think an average Pakistani is thinking about their military's capability, strength and resolve to defend its people?? (you can even read about this frustration in almost all Pakistan related topics on this forum).

So mission accomplished to the planners. They've demonized, demoralized and weakened the Pakistani military in terms of capability and its level within the public, and have put a huge financial dent in military's budget with P3C and the AWACS destruction. Remember, each dollar is like 80 or some Pakistani rupees (I don't follow currencies so sorry if I am off). So multiply asset values in dollars to the local currency and you'll get a MASSIVE amount that Pakistan has lost due to the destruction of these assets.

Do you need anything more drastic than the above in a country's scenario where military used to be considered the ONLY normal and respectful institution??

This is just a simple proof and very self explanatory as to why this serves in the best interests of the gov't in Afghanistan and India specifically.....

It has been said time and time again the US and India want a stable and prosperous Pakistan. And this is not hot air, this is purely selfish- worrying about Pakistan is costing both nations 10s of billions of USD not to mention if Pakistan is operating "normally" there is much opportunity for both especially India. An unsstable Pakistan is not desirable for anyone.

I don't see why this attack on Pakistan- a ntaion that sufffers daily terror attacks is not beyond the capabilities of terrorists. By all accounts these terrorists were pretty incompetant and not especially well trained or possessing any skills/tactics that other domestic terrorists haven't displayed in Pakistan in the past.

But then you clearly don't like to accept the simplest of reasoning.
