Evangelicals? They have that much power and influence to get Obama to sour relations with a potential ally? If the evangelicals were that influential, they'd get him to do something about the United States' allies in the Middle East, not India.

It was not about evangelicals but general perception of the US public for they are not too keen on their president to get too close to a country whose record of treating Christian (of course they care least about other minorities) is worsening with time. Though I think his lecture also had to do with his personal feelings or take of the situation. He knew it was his last term so why not to say what could be said.

I lived in States for 5 years while doing my post-Doc there. Boy, what a country, I have seen several places but I am of opinion that if there ever was a heaven on earth, it would be USA. Those who have not seen that country can only imagine, and will get it totally wrong too while imagining.

When you have a highly controversial figure such as Nintendo Modi elected as your PM then obviously it will affect his followers as well...as simple as that!...would have been better had they selected someone else with some good reputation as their PM!
