Lonely Planet recently carried out a survey among its Facebook and Twitter followers on destinations that had most altered their lives.

Good source to have a survey..i bet 99% participants were Indians..hehe..haha (evil laugh)...

Anyways..whatever..good going India!

Most of my friends are Indians, what does that matter?
are you asking because you want to stereotype into the "narrow minded Pakistani Muslim"

And re-read what I said

I didn't say India didn't have anything else to offer, I said most people who visit India usually visit the Taj Mahal and other Muslim icons first and foremost.

gees you guys get your panties in a knot so quick, just relax guys, everything will be okay.

Yea many bigots go to India to enchant prayers on tombs of saints and murders at a one go. Taj Mahal has no religion and was made because majority of Hindu taxpayer's money made available.

so what your saying is that western bigots are attracted to India and pray at tombs of saints and murderers (rather paradoxical dont you think?), and you guys are proud of this?

since this thread was started to praise the tourism in India after all

Whats not funny is that the same people do not go to pakistan. Just goes to show that pakistan is not identified with anything positive, after all the country was made for the ''muslim civilisation'' of the subcontinent, ended up inventing their own jihadi civilisation instead!

Can you do anything other than injecting poison into the beauty of diversity of various Religions? We're not Hindu/Islamic/Sikh/Christianity/Jain/Buddhist/Tribal religion Republic of India. In India Muslims DO NOT KILL Muslims.

I guess you are wrong here. If you talk about western tourists in delhi-agra-jaipur circuit, taj gets just one day. Probably few hours. Delhi take 1 or 2 days. Rest all goes to Rajasthan.

The spiritual tourists go to Haridwar or buddhist places.

The backpackers go to goa and some places in himachal.

For those who want more info regarding travel, here is one nice site:
India Travel Forum | IndiaMike.com

You may see taj on desktop(which is one place one must visit), but it hardly tells the full story.

Man you guys have your colons so tightly clenched that I am surprised your sphincters have not exploded.

why do you guys only see negativity in the comments?

Is it due to some kind of insecurity or inferiority complex?

Thank you, India

Steve Jobs

When 18-year-old college dropout Jobs came to India in 1974, he walked seven miles to get a free meal at the Hare Krishna temple and take a crowded bus from Delhi to UP and back. Having chucked away his jeans and tees for lungis and dhotis, Jobs left Delhi for the Himalayas, slept in deserted buildings and survived on mangoes with dahi and chapati in a quest to find his inner self. From battling dysentery and scabies to getting fleeced and surviving a thunderstorm, his India experience was not pleasant.

But it changed Jobs’ thinking: he returned home a tonsured Buddhist. His faith in human intelligence and technology was strengthened during visits to mystics. Dan Kottke said Jobs appreciated India’s spiritual culture that ‘helps many live fulfilling lives in the midst of material poverty’. Asserting his practical approach to life, Jobs later said, “Maybe Thomas Edison did a lot more to improve the world than Karl Marx and Neem Karoli Baba (a mystic) put together.”

Most insecure article! Millions visit India and see the slums as well as the richness in the hands of few. Most go back home and thank their stars their parents were not indians and they were not born Indians. They sympathise with Indians but will never want to change their births. More Indians will kill to go to europe than vice a versa. The BOTTOM LINE IS APPLE NEVER WISHED TO HAVE A FACTORY IN INDIA. I AGREE

.
Meh been to Delhi and Mumbai noting special if you go outside rest of the place is slums most of the population lives in rural backwater area's however towers and good attractions are nice for naive tourists. India still has a long way to go, Thank you Come again.

Because you maliciously spew out lies?

People no doubt come to India to see a lot of different things, Islamic architecture is nowhere near the top.

If you managed to get an education sometime and learn to use google, you will be surprised how your friends experiences do not constitute the whole world.
