The word Mongoloid is not really offensive, just out-dated. It sounds very clinical.

Also, that word in the English language can also mean someone with mental retardation, so that doesn't help either.

I haven't seen anyone offended by the term Mongoloid (including myself) but if you are worried about it, the safest thing to say is "East Asian looking".

But otherwise I wouldn't really worry about it.

Give the person a big slap whoever use that word chinki towards other Indians. We Indians have many bad habits and these slangs are one of those, not just this one but everyone uses some slangs against others.
