Thai police arrest suspect in Bangkok bombing

Things you have told have no relation at all , the protesters in here and the bombers in there has no same profil. Yet its proven in an easy way passport is fake, he is not citizen of turkey republic so its seen also .He is the suspicious one,in news its telling other dozens are spectated, so why only they post the turkish republic passport and keep others off?

Then explain the hater posts in here, got any explanation?

All information we known so far are what Thai policemen published based on present investigation. The fake passport is found out from the suspect's hiding room. No doubt the police still need to check the guy's testimony, flight, entrance monitor etc to make sure his real identification.

Most probably IS linked, if we see how good their border security not the realize" istanbul - iştanbül" difference, many IS could be infiltrated through .

For your beatiful brain's info, the embassy has nothing to with the passport :omghaha: even my a** doesnt laugh at this , its the silly border security of coup gov in Thai. they will identity and check the passport, also thats an electronic passport to hold all the corresponding data coded ,can be double check through net .

I sympathise with the chinese posters here. Its quite infuriating is it not that a bunch of islamist terrorists, always looking for a cause, in this case of ''occupation'', systematically target chinese civilians, in this case in a foreign country?

I hope the chinese posters also realise how infuriating it is for Indians when in the UNSC Chinese government protects pakistani islamist terrorists who systematically target Indian civilians regularly. If they have a way of communicating their opinion on the matter to their government, I request them to do so.

We must stand together to defeat islamist terror and the awesome power the Chinese state can lend to this cause will indeed be worthy of the middle kingdom.

BANGKOK — Thai police said Sunday the man arrested in connection with Bangkok's deadly bombing was being uncooperative, possibly not telling the truth to interrogators and would remain in military custody for at least seven days.

The unnamed foreigner was arrested Saturday at an apartment on the outskirts of Bangkok where police seized bomb-making equipment and fake passports. It was the first possible breakthrough in the investigation into the Aug. 17 blast at the Erawan Shrine, which killed 20 people, more than half of whom were foreigners, and injured more than 120 others.

National police spokesman Prawuth Thavornsiri told The Associated Press that police found "more than 200 passports" in the man's apartment, including many that were empty, and police were exploring the theory that he was part of a network that provided fake passports to migrants. He said the passports were from one country, but wouldn't say which one.

He did not explain why a passport gang might target a religious shrine.

Much remains unknown about the suspect, including his nationality, his motive, his relationship to the alleged bombing network or if he was plotting an attack, Prawuth said, adding that another attack was "possible" because police found 10 detonators.

He said police were working with "a number of embassies" and interpreters to try to establish the man's nationality, adding that he did not speak Thai but spoke some English — and the interrogation was going slowly.

"He is not cooperating much. From our preliminary investigation, we think he isn't telling us the truth," Prawuth said, declining to elaborate. "He told us how he entered Thailand but we don't believe everything he says."

Authorities have dodged questions about whether the suspect is believed to be Turkish, saying that he was traveling on a fake passport. Images circulated online after his arrest of a fake Turkish passport with the apparent suspect's picture.

"We don't know if he is Turkish or not," Prawuth said Saturday. "The passport you have seen is fake."

The Turkish Embassy in Bangkok could not immediately be reached for comment on Sunday. A Turkish government spokesman contacted a day earlier in Istanbul said he had no information on the suspect or any possible Turkish link to the attack.

The blast at the Erawan Shrine was unprecedented in the Thai capital, where smaller bombs have been employed in domestic political violence over the past decade, but not in an effort to cause large-scale casualties.

The shrine is a popular tourist destination, particularly with Chinese visitors, who are an important segment of the lucrative tourist market. At least six of the dead were from China and Hong Kong.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blast, sparking several theories into who might be behind it.

Possible suspects include parties seeking to avenge Thailand's forced repatriation of ethnic Uighurs to China. Uighurs are related to Turks, and Turkey is home to a large Uighur community.

Other theories included Muslim separatists from southern Thailand, opponents of Thailand's military government and feuding factions within the security services.

On Sunday, Prawuth put forth another theory, that the suspect belonged to a fake passport ring — "an illegal network that sends people who don't have passports to third countries" — and was angry at officials for a crackdown on fake passport operations.

"The police chief thinks it's personal revenge, anger from a group that is not happy with the work of officials, that we have arrested some of his people," Prawuth said. "We have been very strict about getting rid of fake passports."

Prawuth said that the suspect, who faces charges of possessing unauthorized explosives, was in military custody and could be held for renewable periods of seven days.

Until Saturday's arrest, police had focused on a prime suspect who was seen in a security camera video leaving a backpack at a bench near the open-air shrine and then walking away. A separate camera showed the man, wearing a yellow T-shirt, on the back of a motorcycle taxi leaving the site.

Prawuth said it was too soon to say if the suspect arrested Saturday was the man seen in the video.

"We still have to work out the details," Prawuth said. "But we are very certain he's part of the network. Definitely."

To defeat any kind of terror , the terror isnt only from the radical islamic groups but there are others as well, but the Europe and US and China ignores that because their tail isnt bitten

In India we have experienced Islamist terror for a thousand years. You hear of Palmyra etc now. We have heard, seen, experienced this for a thousand years.

Here is Kashmir's most sacred Hindu temple, remember Kashmir, where Muslims are being oppressed as per your brotherly nation and hence terror attacks against Hindus continue to this day? Well the ''oppression'' has gone on for a thousand years, Hindus have been converted or forced out, last only a couple of decades ago.

Yes, there is other terror too. But we will have to ask the 1000 year old elephant in the room to move a little so that we can find other ants beneath it.

And here is Hinduism's most sacred temple, I mean mosque. Its like how Mecca is to you guys.

Gyanwapi ''mosque'' in Hindus' most sacred city.

Tell us how are you always the aggressor yet always the victim?

It was sure from the beginning that Turkey's name would be involved in that horrible bombing in Thailand. Turkish embassy officials in Southeast Asian countries (especially) Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, are providing fake passports to Uighur terrorists and separatists. Even it may be initially started as a means to transport Uighur jihadists to Turkey and then to Syria, it must have gotten out of hand.

I anticipate the world is soon to start to realize that Turkey has becoming a perpetrator of global jihadist terrorism. Especially when terrorism starts to hit Western capitals, we will see how quickly Turkey will be turned into a pariah state. The US-led West sympathize with Uighur terrorism because they believe it will hurt China only.

Hopefully Southeast Asian nations now understand better they need to fully cooperate with China on this issue and set up an (initial) SCO style anti-terrorism and separatism framework.

As I said before, IS is a NATO alias Washington creation, which means that we, too, we are as complicit as Turkey. Since Turkey sits next to Syria with a huge Kurdish population, Turkey's role in this barbarity is exceptional as Turkey would never accept the creation of a Kurdish state, that's where Turkey differs from Wahshington's agenda. Washington wants the Kurds to fight against Syria, the Kurds hope to get their dreamed independent state by aiding the US effort. The only commonality both Washington and Turkey have is to get rid of Assad.

The so-called attack against IS is nothing but a farce, as the more NATO attacks IS, the more ground IS gains. Strange, ey?

Since this thread is about the Bangkok bombing, I have posted some links about the Grey Wolves and the Turkish deep state and their roles in international terrorism.

ahahahaha.....Nothing surprising in what you said to be honest. Everything/issue around the world to you is the creation of the U.S. I know that you being Chinese means you see the U.S unfavorably as the U.S is a rival to China. However, that doesn't means you should blame the U.S for everything that happens in the world. I'm sure that according to you, its also the U.S who is behind those extremists Turks that protested against Chinese and Thai embassy burning their flags and attacking Thai consulate. i'm very sure it's the U.S that convinced them through its propaganda to do so. Isn't it?:usflag::devil::D

Bro, you know its hard to debate when someone already has a pre-determined view that a certain country is responsible for everything that happens anywhere in the world. Reminds me of another member on here IT-IR who always blames the U.S/west for everything everywhere, no matter the subject matter. lool To them its as if other countries don't have their own interests/reasons for carrying out their policies the way they do. lol :disagree:

The suspect has been arrested. Now everyone will know if he acted alone or there were others that are involved in the terrorist attack.

You mean the declassified document is not real? :cheesy:

The US didn't bring down the two skyscrapers, in fact it brought down three. Remember the glitch when BBC reported the destruction of WTC7 20 minutes before it felt down on its footprint?
