TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

F-22's tvns are for only pitch and roll as far as i remember. Right and left paddles are not moving. They are not paddles at all in fact. They are just parts of the back body.

It can spread its thrust in a very wide degree.

We can see it's shape better from here.
And it must be smooth not sharp to be stealthy.Sharp surfaces are not used in stealth aircraft after F-117

Can't we add moving smooth side nozzles to it ?..

mostly in 5th gen jets, engine nozzle finish before the plane , which is you can see above. the reason i think to make its thermal view as much as possible stealthier
also, mostly aircraft can do sharp turns, if it(lets say it wants to turn left) can lift its right wing up and then using vectoring nozzle to turn up.

It won't be useful. Because as kamil say nozzle finish before the plane. Directing the thrust to sides will only increase drag and lower thrust's effect, there is also a high risk of damage because of temperatures especially when in afterburner mode.

Turks Agree To Speed up Fighter Program

ANKARA — Turkey's government and military leaders have agreed to speed up the country's crawling program for the design, development and production of an indigenous fighter jet.

Officials here said there is a broad "administrative agreement" over a need to give the program a boost.

"The program will gain notable pace after the [parliamentary] elections [on June 7]," said one senior procurement official familiar with the program, dubbed TF-X. "There is consensus among the president [Recep Tayyip Erdogan], prime minister [Ahmet Davutoglu] and the Air Force that the program should go ahead with a 'priority tag.' "

An Air Force official assisting the program said the top brass in the service is "keen to go faster than before."

"Maximum [expert] input possible will be provided from our side," he said. "This is now an established policy."

Early in March, the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) procurement agency released a request for information (RFI) for the ambitious TF-X.

In that document, SSM defined the scope of the fighter program as "indigenous design, development and production activities of the first Turkish fighter aircraft to meet Turkish Armed Forces' next generation fighter requirements and replace the existing F-16 fighter fleet starting from 2030s."

Companies or organizations capable of designing, developing and manufacturing the planned aircraft are invited to obtain an electronic copy of the RFI from SSM.

SSM officials say the release of the RFI marks a critical stage for the program, aiming "to see which companies would be willing to take part and which capabilities will be offered."

"We expect a satisfactory level of international interest," the procurement official said. "We already unofficially know that a number of foreign manufacturers hope to be part of this program."

He said a new roadmap also has been devised. The first thing Ankara will do, he said, is put together a team of SSM and Air Force officials that will be expected to run the program until the end.

"Soon there will formally be an enthusiastic team working on the ideal modality for the program," the official said.
"That team is being structured at the moment."

Turkey's top procurement panel, the Defense Industry Executive Committee, chaired by Davutoglu, officially decided on Jan. 7 to go ahead with the TF-X program after reviewing its feasibility.

At the meeting, the committee decided to move beyond the pre-concept design stage. It said a twin-engine model would be pursued in the national fighter aircraft program.

Other members of the committee are Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz, Chief of Military General Staff Gen. Ncdet Ozel and chief procurement official, Ismail Demir, head of the SSM.

Davutoglu has said that a twin-engine model would be pursued in the national fighter aircraft program.

But the procurement official said this is not an irreversible decision. "We remain flexible on the choice of engine modality. Depending on our choice of a base model we may rethink that," he said.

He also said the "base model" could be both a NATO or a non-NATO product.

Hopefully it doesn't turn into another air defense procurement debacle..

Dude, we don't need small multirole fighters. We need a 5th gen air superiority fighter that can challenge any other fighters in the world.

.
I think Turkey is partnered with F-35 program, and I don't see that Turkey will run 2 projects simultaneously of 5th Gen fighters...

. .
F-35 is strike fighter and air force wants to replace F-4's which is used in that role.F-16's are getting obsolete too hence we need a fighter to replace it. TFX will be that fighter. Also we won't just buy the F-35 it will grant us some capabilities such as producing high quality composite bodies for aircraft.

I think Turkey is still the best in term of engine development in the Muslim world.

But just for information, the potential Indonesian company who can produce aircraft engine is this PT Nusantara Turbin, which is a subsidiary of PT Dirgantara (state owned). Currently this company is cooperating with Siemens in making new joint company for tapping industrial turbine market in our country. Since 2011 based on old News the new joint factory to make steam turbine has already been operated, with annual production of 40 units steam turbine. PT Nusantara Turbin itself has been operating since 1998.

my friend...

If your basic is engineering.... you will understand that technically steam turbine is far different than gas turbine, particularly for military use...

Indonesia still way long to produce military turbine. We dont even have a clear roadmap or program to produce turbine for civilian aircraft. Currently only US, France, UK, German, Russia and Japan can produce their own engine.

What do we need is made a cooperation with Turkey to run Turbine program for military use, so we can use it also for our IFX. But this offcourse require an assistant from Prat Whitney, General Electric, Roll Royce or MTU Aero Engine

Yeap, :agree:

We are also producing Steam Turbine Blades.

But producing a gas turbine engine is something entirely different.... But we are also studying on the issue.

Check this post, if you are interested in the subject. Turkish engine thread | Page 18

We must have accomplised this far ago.Steam turbines are used since 1900's.

I distinctly remember Tubitak reverse engineering Gas Turbine compressor blades @cabatli_53 bro do you have any information about it?
