PESHAWAR: Army Chief General Raheel Sharif said that the military operation will not stop until the last terrorist is eliminated from the soil of Pakistan. He added that most of the terrorists involved in the attack on Army Public School (APS) Peshawar have met their fate.

The army chief was speaking at a ceremony hosted at Corps Headquarters Peshawar to honour the families of the martyrs of APS Peshawar.

General Raheel reiterated his commitment to eliminate terrorism from the country. The army chief met the families of the martyrs on the occasion and expressed his solidarity and profound grief.

He also paid tributes to the martyrs and those who were injured in the December 16 attack.

He acknowledged the great sacrifice the families have paid, and assured them that the entire nation is united and stands with them.

“The sacrifice of our young martyrs has united the nation. The tragic incident will never be forgotten. No religion or society allows such an heinous act,” he said.

Sharing details of the incident, General Sharif informed the parents of the martyrs that most of the terrorists involved in the incident have met their fate.

The army chief was accompanied by his wife on the occasion.

Military operation Zarb-i-Azb was launched in North Waziristan on June 15 following a brazen militant attack on Karachi's international airport and the failure of peace talks between the government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) negotiators.

The military operation and intelligence based operations in the country were further intensified following the attack on APS Peshawar.

Its never over until Mullah Fazlullah is dead.

It's not over until I can get in my car with my family and drive to some remote village in FATA or Balochistan to have a picnic in a scenic mountain resort.

That is the Pakistan I want.

One where I can go wherever I please and not have to worry about being abducted or shot at by a bearded fanatic. A Pakistan which is tolerant and plural, peaceful and welcoming....where Pakistanis of all colours and all races swear by the sabz hilal-i-parcham and respect its history, its ideology and its laws.

Was the number of attackers on APS ever confirmed or even known?

Not with attitude I won't. Lol. If we could have had it in the 60's, we'll get it back too.

their culture is isolated , they choose to live under crimes , no go areas , diverse cultures are not welcome in FATA ...
unfortunately

That's partially our fault. We've excluded them from our national life. Time to reintroduce them to Pakistani society.

Lets hope it is just a postponement and every terrorist and anyone supporting such ideology will be finished.

Was the number of attackers on APS ever confirmed or even known?

short answer maybe Not. General saab is making a claim and we can only take it at face value there is nothing to confirm it against. we know for sure though that those that have had links with these terrorists or have supported their cause have not been harmed. Red mosque (sorry) Lal Masjid people actually justified APS attack and refused to condemn the killing of children.. to date they remain untouchable and are actually the courts are busy accommodating their cases against Musharraf.

those that facilitated the attack were gunned down, arrested or dronned . did we get them all? I dont know .the total people involved may run into hundreds those that provided logistics, those that posted pictures, those that made phone calls. and those that ran the commentary and provided intel to the attackers as the army moved in.

re attackers. none of them went there to take hostages OR escape.
their idea was to kill maximum children and then blow themselves up when the army turns up.
if three as a confirmed number then I have missed the last ISPR report. I recall them being 15 to 20 and TTP even posted their group photo after the terror attack
after the attackers were killed or they blew themselves up.. the Americans were the first to draw the blood of the
TTP by conducting the drone strikes inside Afghanistan.
