Good call out in the article about hostage rescue vs. clearance work. In the latter, no %^&$ is given and the sole purpose is the destruction of the terrorists which SSG is quite adept at.

Perhaps the planning could have been better, but in my mind, the single biggest issue was the execution of this operation in broad daylight. That takes away most of the advantage for the MOE teams such as using night vision to take out any target with accuracy and not exposing own troops to accurate fire from individuals hidden behind obstructions etc.
