Communism was an extreme reaction to a problem which we accept existed and exists i.e the exploitation of the working and downtrodden classes. Just like Communism, Wahabism sought to exploit grievances of some Muslims and gave them delusion of a wahabi utopia where every thing would be perfect after they massacred all non muslims and minorities and handed the power to the wahabi theocracy mullah elite. The analogy with Communism is quite striking actually.
