Ten reasons why India will not and must not become a superpower

Thats what India wants. India wants to be an agressive policeman state like USA. Remember after Mumbai attacks, Indian media were demanding their government and army to bomb areas of Pakistan's Azad Kashmir then India did not do anything but complain about Pakistan to the world.

India is not even a regional power, forget about superpower. The only country India has control over is Bhutan. India has territorial disputes with almost all her neighbours.

coming from a pakistani who is getting bombed every day btw whats your gdp less than anything less than 200 bn $$ is a joke

India should first eliminate poverty, Should first build toilets for its people, super power is just a wet dream for indians

ja oye phele drone strikey baand karvao hahahahaha letting your own people die because of money lol

I think the Thread which is started by an Indian quoting an Indian also says the same. And all the Indian members are also saying the same.
It is just that your insecurity shows in the way you have replied to the thread.

Superpower or not we know what the wet dream for you is and starts with a 'K'.
Now the shoe is on the other foot.

US drones take off from Pakistan territory, kill Pakistani citizens inside Pakistani border and the Pakistani establishment can do nothing about it. If Pakistanis were Japanese they would have all committed Harakiri rather than live with a shame like this.

Before we all keep beating around the bush, can someone please define what is 'superpower'...

India must do something of its highly corrupt political, economic culture. The poor need to be empowered. There has to be better social equity between Indians. What most Indians don't realize is that the term 'shining India' does not apply to most of the people in India, only to the corporate elites. The wealth must be distributed more equally. India spends billions on its space program, on its defence, on its Bollywood industry & the IPL, it should focus a little more on its people as well. Something also needs to be done about population control in India, it is too overpopulated right now.

India is a beautiful country, it has all religions, cultures in it. Definitely the most diverse country in the world. It has hundreds of spoken languages there. It has extremely industrious, hard working people. It has a huge consumer market. I feel it has the potential to be more than a superpower, potential to be probably the greatest nation of all time. But many advantages that India has are also its disadvantages. One of the disturbing facts I noticed when I was visiting my maternal grandparents in Patna a few years ago was the apathy in people. People did not give a crap about their surroundings as long as they weren't personally affected by it. People were also becoming a lot more individualistic, which is a very Western trait. Looking at that, I felt certain young Indians are losing some of their traditional values, & taking some of the worst Western ones. India is an ancient land, a beautiful country, & I feel Western values are a misfit, & can never belong to the traditional land of India, which is thousands of years old.

But Pakistanis don't call their country a "Superpower" like Indians do :what:

So it will be okay to allow your citizens to be killed by a foreign country with impunity if your country is not a 'Superpower'. Your logic is totally flawed.

BTW most of the Indian posters here are hoping for their country to give better life standard to their citizens than becoming a Superpower.

True and they must not.

And Indians don't call themselves super power (refer this post ) --- though it is the same world which calls Pakistan a **### state calls India a future 'Global' power.

Actually this thread is about an Indian who says why India is not a Super power 'yet' and almost all Indians are off the same view. So I dont know what is there to refute. BTW we do have 'potential' and 'room for improvement' for becoming a Global power. ;)

Firstly,
How do we define superpower?

The USSR was a superpower because of its military might and size as well as its dominance in world politics but were its citizens happy? Clearly not.
Being a superpower does not guarantee anything except that you can throw your weight around externally but internally you may be bleeding.

This thread is not about bashing or taking cheap shots at India/Indians

Ten reasons why India will not and must not become a superpower

1.challenge of left wing extremism
2.right wing fundamentalism in all communities
3.decline of political center(conversion of political parties into family firms)
4.corruption and corrosion of public institutions
5.growing gap b/w rich and poor
6.environmental degradation
7.apathy of the media
8.political fragmentation and policy incoherence
9.disturbance in northeast and j&k
10.very unstable neighborhood

India is an extraordinary political experiment still finding its way,
India's lesson to the world be not world dominance but coexistence.

India is not terrorist state, also extremism is not converted into terrorism, worlds strongest man said india is super power, and if not we are on the way we are 2nd fastest developing nation in the world and we are not in the list of top 10 faild nation, so auther must check facts...

No one calls India a future Global Power or a Superpower, only Indians do. Listen to your media & read your newspapers. Other nations do talk about appreciably about India's democracy, but it also talks about its abject poverty & other problems.

Indians are getting killed everyday by the Indian government too, & you accuse Pakistan of killing your people all the time.

Being a "superpower" is not a goal... it is a nightmare.

Look at the USA, spending hundreds of billions every year (despite already having a $14 trillion debt)... so they can be the "world policeman". And the people just end up hating them anyway.

Might as well flush hundreds of billions of dollars down the toilet every year. Who actually wants to be a superpower? Who really needs "global power projection"?

To protect our people from genocide, such as that carried out by Indonesians in 1998 and the planned genocide of Chinese by the Anglo Saxon Wall Street regime.

Of course, this does not mean we should follow the self destructive, criminal path of the US. We need cost effective defenses against Anglo genocide.
