Ten police dead in Pakistan blast

At least 10 policemen have been killed in an apparent suicide bomb attack in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, officials have said.

The attack came on the first anniversary of a deadly siege at the city's Red Mosque, in which more than 100 people were killed during fighting.

The mosque was stormed by Pakistani troops to evict militants who had taken sanctuary within its complex.

Police had been deployed at a rally being held near the mosque on Sunday.

"The blast happened 15 minutes after the meeting dispersed. A heavy contingent of police was at a main crossing several hundred metres from the mosque and they were targeted in the attack," a senior security official told the AFP news agency.

ISLAMABAD: A loud blast near Lal Masjid demonstration in Melody Chowk area of the capital has left 9 policemen dead while atleast 25 have been injured.

Police has cordoned off entire area, according to Geo News correspondent, the blast occurred in front of Aabpara police station. Body parts were scattered in the area and ambulances reached the site of the blast.

Obviously those who held Pakistan at ransom with the Lal Mazjid holeout!

There are enough supporters who feel that the Mullahs were done wrong! Fundamentalists who are encouraging such senseless idiocy!

It is time that people decide if the Mad Mullahs are to rule and cause regular chaos through their paid up brigands or let the legitimate govt rule.

This type of mayhem cannot be allowed to fester!
