I agree with you wholeheartedly bro. Problem is, countries like China, India etc were lucky enough to build the bomb before the creation of the NPT. Nowadays it is much more difficult to create such weapons. Just look at the sanctions Iran went through, and this was when there even was no evidence Iran was building a bomb.
The Americans do not have the intestinal fortitude to bomb Iran, so instead, they resorted to their next greatest weapon, economical warfare. The sanctions Iran was under would have collapsed many other nations, but still, Iran retained its integrity and went in and negotiated a relatively good deal, with a not so good starting hand. The reason for Iran coming to the table to negotiate is the reality that nukes without economical prosperity mean little in the long term. Iran's priority now is to develop a prosperous economy which is designed to insulate Iran from potential future sanctions. Once that is done, then Iran can go ahead and develop the bomb, assuming the strategic regional calculus of Iran merit such a move. Because we always have to remember, Iran developing a bomb can create a unpredictable shift in the dynamics of the region, i.e whether other states will also rush to develop the bomb or not.
In any case, the reality for Iran is it first needs to become a player in other regards such as science,technology,, economy and then aspire for nukes, if it does so before that, then it will suffocate under sanctions. This will remain a reality until the US ceases to be the major global player in finance and they lose their economical sanctions monopoly. This is why guys like me are cheering for China to overtake the Americans and neutralise the American economical warfare capability. So godspeed China!
