Technology sector could end Pakistan’s CAD concerns: PM Khan

Problem is even those 10k grads can't get any jobs. Lucky ones get out of country, unlucky ones stay at home cursing their fate and then people like Zia ul Islam say pAkIsTanis can't wOrK cUz LaZyYyy...
look when i give freelancer data analysis jobs, Pakistanis ask for 2X more and never complete their work while Bengalis ask 2X less and always complete their job

no go check the stats as well or just login on free launcher and look for your self

indians and bengalis will outbid us, they work more pakistanis just want govt job 10-1pm with 1 hour chai break
dont believe me, go to hospital OPD or a bank or any instiution

ask any foreign investor why money isnt pored in pakistan, they will tell you

just the poor class or farmers work in pakistan, middle class is very lazy

.
IT is hyper competitive field
Can middle class work 9 to 9 with 6 days a week without taking chai breaks

I doubt pakistani even work 30 hours a week
So its not going to work and hasnt
Pakistani's are generally not that competitive if we compare them to the outside world, they don't work as hard they don't put in as much hours. It has a lot to do with our culture and society where we don't have a work culture for youngsters 90% start their professional career after graduating from university which is wrong in western cultures kids start working from their teenages and its not frowned upon like in Pakistan.

Have you guys actually worked in any Pakistani PRIVATE corporate? Or just spent your lives milking the state and the pension system?

Pakistanis in IT are just as hard working as anyone else I have worked with. And I have worked with people from all around the world. In fact I found Pakistanis to much much more willing to work weekends and festivals. This is from my personal experience working both inside and outside Pakistan. I have seen people working for days and nights continuously on projects, sleeping in their cars or break rooms.

Do share your own experience.

Also among south asians pakistanis are the poorest and most illterate dispora..this is also supported by numbers and facts

and how does illiteracy equate to laziness? its got more to do with govt policies, and lack of access to cheap quality education.
facts and numbers on internet dont mean sh*T when you dont know anything about the situation on the ground.
dont believe me, go to hospital OPD or a bank or any instiution
banks are open for public till 5pm, and work till 8-10pm. factories regularly go into overtime and people work 14-15 hours daily. like I said, gtfo with self-hating chay pana
besides, the amount of time you spend on this forum, it looks like you are merely projecting yourself on others.

I work in a private IT firm in Pakistan, i know what you are talking about those who work with me and including me work hard but that's not the point i was making.
Please tell me what percentage of people work that hard in Pakistan? What is the general work environment in pakistan?

The people you are talking about are 2 percent of the working population rest are just wasting their early and late 20's

Can you post a link to the evidence that confirm those numbers? IF what you say is true then remember to post the links here.

The youth of this country is up for the task. Most of them are tired of running around for uncles and licking thier shoes for meager pay. Old guards refuse to step down and the youth finds new ways to get employment.
I've got colleagues, working 16hrs a day as freelancer or in tech companies. The money they make makes it worth it. Problem do persists for the industry but people find loopholes around it

i wish for trade schools for ppl who are hands on. pakistanis do work hard but now they are tired and realized its a rat race and no gora is going to make him move up. So it is do your own business if you got the pesay and skills.

Don't under estimate your own people. Pakistani people are industrious, innovative and entrepreneurial - what they lack is an environment where it is encouraged.

My family is from the Mirpur region of AJK, I honestly think it's the laziest if not one of the laziest regions of people in the world. Most of the people have family abroad, most of the people have nice homes built with expat money, cars and motorbikes bought with expat money, we have lots of retail and restaurants and leisure all funded by pounds, euros, Riyals and Dhirams. My cousins were some of the most lazy people i met - even the ones in the village.

They wore white clothes every day, spent all day drinking tea in the bazaar, getting upto mischief, playing sports, cricket tournaments etc. They paid other people to farm the land, they bought milk rather than have their own buffalo despite having loads of land. These same guys and thousands like them suddenly work 16 hour days 7 days a week in the UK, UAE, Europe etc.

Why?

1. Culture of work - nobody is a child here, everyone is expected to work, even in Pakistani families.
2. Job opportunity.
3. Culture of self employment/going into business. Thanks to the de-industrialisation of the UK, our community who used to be factory workers were forced into working for themselves. Many are taxi drivers or takeaway owners, but it created a culture where people try to make it thier own way.

I am an IT professional, nearly everyone i know has a side hustle, even i do.

Yes there are the forever lazy - but they are rare. Give our people opportunity, incentivize them to work, and they excel. If you know you have a salkari naukri for life - who wants to work? Where is the need?

People won't be lazy of they get their due return.
Let me give you an example, one of my colleague very young. He is a freelancer earning a good sum, recently he got a government job plenty of pay. He was shocked on how incompetent and lazy the gov office was. Currently he's visited 5 times in a month their office, now he's doing both his freelance and gov job because of how our gov offices function.

Our annual IT grad rate is bad only 10K annually, so we have a pool but to make it a proper industry
We need to increase "production" to alteast 30-40k
This seems interesting as he is talking about training youngsters and increasing that rate

I bet you that majority of those 10k graduates aren’t even being taught relevant skills. A persistent challenge for Pakistan has been the quality of its IT education.

If you hadn't mentioned AJK as your region I swear I'd say you are describing my cousins lol

But like your cousins, mine also are now in SEA and working their asses off. Collectively they are worth a few billion PKR now and that's last 10 years work.
