Tanks in FATA for counter insurgency

I think this is not the right approach. PA should send in Al-Khalid tanks, a few of these at least so that the machine is battle tested properly and the crews also are well trained in actual war scenario. Another very important thing is that it will be a nice publicity campaign for AK as the world will know the capability of this systems and so will our competitors. Since i have said that PA should send a FEW, we will also evaluate operating them in mixed formations with Al-Zarar tanks. I will say that we should also send a few T-80 and operate these together. We should use the integrated battle management system to direct helicopter and fighter strikes. This is a good opportunity to test all these systems and see how potent these are.

Frankly, not doing this do shows that the AK or the IBM systems are not battle ready (though not the case but still provides a strong point to debate on to the opposition)

I am a bit disappointed on our military dull response to these issues. They should be proactive and while we are spending millions on this war they should try to yield maximum benefit from it.

No need to send Alkhalid when type 59 are doing a damn good job. Alkhalids are sheer overkill for ttp scums, not to mention the terrain is also not suitable for a 50 giant

Sorry, maybe i was not able to make my point clear. Al-Khalid tanks are not required to be sent because the operation needs the tank but because tank needs to see some real battle action. This will not only help PA and HIT BETTER evaluate AK,s performance but also will send out a statement of other countries about the potential of the tank.

Do USAF needs F-22 to fight ISIS? that is what is an over kill but the still used it and evaluated it in battle conditions, conditions that are not on par with what they can face in battle with some proper air force but still, something is better then nothing. The machine gets well oiled and evaluated, the crews gets to develop tactics, we can evaluate our battle management system and develop tactics on how to use the AK, Type 80 and Al-Zarars together, which tank will have what role in case they go to a fight together, direct air support using the battle management system etc. We are spending millions on this war and if this can yield some goods from all the damage it is doing what is the harm in that?

You yourself have mentioned one point in your post, that the 50 ton giant is not suitable for the area, what if a war broke out on our western front? do we believe we can fight it with Type 59s? we cant, will need our front liners to be battle ready and accustomed to the situation. And this is just quoting an example, i am not basing my argument entirely on this point. :) The main argument is what i pointed to in the above paragraph.

what is really required is a 120mm SP Mortar even moreso than tanks. i think the army is missing a beat here.
