I tried chettinad cuisine in chennai, tears rolled down my eyes, too spicy for me. But pongal for breakfast was a good dish, a bit like khichdi

No worries - the Tamils have already adopted Barotta, Sapatti, butter naan, Taali, tandoori chicken, gulab jamuns, rasgulas etc etc into their culinary habits.
