We produce KRL-122 (50+KM range) & A-100 (under ToT--140 km)..

To an extent but this M777 purchase is for a very specifc purchase- the Indian Army's Mountain Strike Corp (MSC) being raised to fight in India's North and North East. The idea of the M777 is to be air-mobile with the IAF's CH-47Fs:

This is so the IA can have 155 calibre arty in the mountains where heavy, truck mounted, MGS or MLRS cannot access.

The IA is also procuring 5-6,000 arty guns (of different kinds) over the next 3 years:

MGS- likely the NEXTER CEASAR ( another L&T consortium effort):

All "tube" arty is seperate to the Indian Army's MBRL Pinaka (next generation version with greater range being developed) and Smerch being inducted continuously:

Oh and not to forget the 300+ KM Brahmos regiments:

The Indian Army's arty regiment is going through a lot of transformation as we speak

This thread has nothing to do with your insecurities ...

M777 is still nowhere ...
36 Rafael deal and truck mounted arty gun deals are dead !

@Super Falcon M777 can't replace a SPG! One is a towed gun ., the other an SPG!!

We produce Panter 155mm (which also has SP capability-to an extent) no need for another towed gun.. Better get more SH-1s and M109A series..

You would think both countries having nuclear weapons would make any conventional war prohibitive. If US wants conventional balance, it would be giving Pakistan more weapons and India less. Of course, this depends on how big this EDA package is.
A full fledged military conflict and any attempt to take over significant parts of territory, perhaps - but nuclear weapons leave room for limited conflict and limited territorial gains by either side. The limited conflict scenario (with Indian conventional military superiority) favors India more than Pakistan.

I believe the idea behind the M777 type artillery is one of rapid deployment via air to mountainous terrain is inaccessible to tracked/wheeled vehicles or terrain that tracked/wheeled vehicles would struggle to get to.

Yes .. Which is of almost no use to Pak.. Unless we have to place them on afghan border in case of a sudden invasion... These guns can't be placed in siachin either ... The Indians want to buy yen for use against Chinese in south.
