They never said they were a “Moderate” Islamic anything. There is a saying; you don’t negotiate with your friends, you negotiate with your enemies. If you can’t destroy your enemies, you have to learn to live with them.
If they want international recognition, they will have to adopt international norms when it comes to diplomats. They probably learned that after the incident with the Iranian diplomats back in the ‘90s, and their current diplomatic blitz around the region indicates they care a lot about their global standing.
