I think whole province is about to fall. Tirinkot will be the second provincial capital after kunduz. Latest reports say taliban have entered the provincial capital and taken control of central prison.

So after Trillions of Dollars wasted this is where we are standing after 15 years . You cant beat ideology

the reports of the prison started appearing yesterday on social media -- thought it was a one off.

In the past ANSF has moved prisoners to secure locations -- wonder why this didn't happen this time -- was it right out of the blue

mmm -- is it just the regular back and forth that has been going on for a while or have things now settled at a new lower base (@A-Team -- haven't seen you in a few days -- hope you and your family/friends are fine)

This is inside the ring-road but close enough to the Pakistani border -- wonder what the implications are.

If the story of the chopper is true -- hope it wasn't a Manpad -- if it was it will just increase the security risk in the immediate region many fold.

Taliban lost all credibility last time they ruled Afghanistan. The world will not allow them to come back.

The situation is when taliban come, ANA flee leaving their weapon and when the Afghan regular force comes, Taliban flee taking all the weapons

They took over some place...the way to Kabul is not that easy for Taliban. The world has seen the atrocities by Taliban during their last rule. There is no way, this is going to be repeated again.

Some place? Thats their provincial capital. And they are trying to overrun other capitals in numerous provinces as we speak.

Ok so what...tomorrow they will retreat.

The world has also seen atrocities being committed by senior members of the incumbent government as well. The current vice president of Afghanistan Dostum for example is a notoriously bloodthirsty warlord (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/11/world/asia/11afghan.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all). Atrocities were committed by both sides during the violent conflict ranging from the 80s to the 2000s.

what is the significance for Uruzgan and Kunduz? I know Mullah Omer was born in Uruzgan but from strategy point of view, its seems Taliban are determined to capture these two places.

With the help of american soldiers and airtrikes yes they might. What happens when the americans finally go? ANA starts vacating check posts as soon as they see taliban approaching.

Yes, there might have been, but they are nowhere near what Taliban did to Afghanistan. Taliban took Afghanistan to 7th century AD

Anyway, I always fail to understand. Pakistan never want to be ruled by Taliban, so why wish Afghanistan to be under Taliban.

By then Afghanistan will have a proper army to take on Taliban on its own. The world need to equip, train and arm Afghanistan army with military lethal weapons.
