Taliban enter Uruzgan province Capital

Yes, there might have been, but they are nowhere near what Taliban did to Afghanistan. Taliban took Afghanistan to 7th century AD

Anyway, I always fail to understand. Pakistan never want to be ruled by Taliban, so why wish Afghanistan to be under Taliban.

By then Afghanistan will have a proper army to take on Taliban on its own. The world need to equip, train and arm Afghanistan army with military lethal weapons.

Its been 16 years. I think thats enough to withstand people only having ak-47 .

The problem can not be solved by fighting with Taliban , fight with them for another 20 30 years , they will not be finished. NATO with all its might can not crush them completely since 2001. Taliban are standing there still challenging the whole government . Pakistan want peace in afghanistan , they do not want taliban rule. This is what Pakistan asking Kabul to sit with them and strike a peace deal.
Ever wonder, why they have not been defeated.? Kindly do not say again the same Pakistan supporting them etc etc.
When you know what Dostum did with People ,you will know why Taliban holds support in Afghanistan

All larger countries want to influence their smaller neighbours. Prachanda the Maoist of Nepal sought and was given refuge in India for years, despite India fighting Maoists domestically. Recently the deposition of Oli and reinstatement of Prachanda has been hailed in sections of Indian media as a victory of Indian diplomacy. Surely the Indian centre does not want or approve of Maoist ideology on home turf, but this has not prevented them from using similar groups in other countries for their own purposes. The far right Contras were similarly used by the US in Nicaragua from the 70s to the 90s despite their horrifying human rights record*. The US would not tolerate such a group on home turf but if they serve a purpose abroad then so be it. Welcome to international politics.

As far as the Afghan Taliban are concerned, this is at its core an Afghan organization, run by and for native Afghans. We can judge them all we want (there is ample reason to judge them), but at the end of the day they are a manifestation of opinion held in wide sections of the Afghan populace. Although propaganda coming out of Kabul will of course denounce them as outsiders, this is not Al Qaida or ISIS (groups with pan-Islamic goals). Rather this is a domestic group run and manned by locals. If they did not enjoy support from an influential section of the Afghan populace, then the Taliban would not even exist in the first place. William Dalrymple has written a very interesting book on Afghan mentality especially of the rural populace (Return of a King) in which he clarifies why sections of Afghan society support groups like the Taliban today, just as they supported Dost Mohammad Barakzai back in the 1800s against the British and their puppet Shah Shuja. I would definitely recommend that book.

They took over some place...the way to Kabul is not that easy for Taliban. The world has seen the atrocities by Taliban during their last rule. There is no way, this is going to be repeated again.

US is going gung ho about india because india is going to promise to replace a chunk of the US role in Afghanistan. But short of deploying the indian army i dont set how india can set a proxy like the erstwhile Northern Alliance to fight the talibans. So taliban gonna story creep to kabul and keep attacking a a daily basis. Which controlling most of Afghanistan.

Modi has to come up with a better answer than proxies.

ya i think this is the reason why usa is cosying up to india.. sooner or later india will have to send troops to Afganistan.

the reports of the prison started appearing yesterday on social media -- thought it was a one off.

In the past ANSF has moved prisoners to secure locations -- wonder why this didn't happen this time -- was it right out of the blue

mmm -- is it just the regular back and forth that has been going on for a while or have things now settled at a new lower base (@A-Team -- haven't seen you in a few days -- hope you and your family/friends are fine)

This is inside the ring-road but close enough to the Pakistani border -- wonder what the implications are.

If the story of the chopper is true -- hope it wasn't a Manpad -- if it was it will just increase the security risk in the immediate region many fold.

He hasnt replied because a provincial capital is about to fall and kabul is getting hit day in day out.

He will wait for american troops and airforce to clear tirinkot and then reply how the burka offensive as he calls it has been a failure.:D

Well it seems USAF / NATO has hit Taliban positions and US / NATO special forces have pushed them out of the city -- so the city won't fall.

But some of these attacks are hitting too close to home -- especially now I think the Taliban are targeting the Afghan elite -- so one should not take the situation lightly

it would have been disaster had Tarin Koat fallen even for a day -- two other capitals are embattled -- NUG is no where to be seen and the warlords are out in-force on the streets of Kabul.

Sadly I think my tax dollars and American boys and girls will remain committed for a long time even if in a token amount.

Well, in Iraq, even American policy and the military could not prevent a civil-war. American policy and power is certainly not infallible -- quire far from it.

Yes NUG is busy in deciding its legitimacy and power distribution with each other.

Thank you for asking :), all good on my side MASHALLAH.

The situation in the province has never been threatening, the capital or the province was never and will never fall. It is just twitter disinformation. Some of the remote checkposts manned by ALP were temporarily taken over but has since been retaken by ANSF. ALP is lightly armed part time security folks.

Situation is calm and business as usual in the city and surroundings.

No city is falling, stop believing in fairy tales :)

US is not leaving anywhere, the ANSF and the NUG is bearing fruit and standing firm. The US has permanent bases in Afghanistan and our strategic partner. The Talis are losing and this their last straw ;).
