That's a very confusing situation!!

Pakistanis are saying that TTPs are ruthless bunch of people and have been blamed for murdering thousands of innocents...then why he supports them? Anyone asked this question to him in context of the killings?

HERE comes the double standard..see parties like tehreek-e-insaaf(imran khan) and JI(munawar hussain or in other words, mullah party) always say that we support taliban and we want our gov. to talk to them instead of fighting although they know that TTP is behind bomb blasts. And on the other side they say US is responsible for all insecurity in PAKistan and US should go from here.and pakistani ppl say US supports TTP.so the question from these two parties is that if TTP are their brothers and they know that TTP is behind all attacks, then why they say go US go US.?

dez, stop spreading misinformation, it's become a bad habit. Also, stop speaking on behalf of all Pakistanis, you don't have that right.

Imran Khan is not a "supporter" of Taliban, he is, however, sympathetic to their demands and anti-Army offensive, and for this, his popularity recently has suffered. I don't agree with him about the offensive, but he is far from a religious extremist himself. He is also quite popular amongst some of the youth and the educated middle class, and his party had been gaining popularity until recently. That is because he was against the idea of sending the Army into the tribal regions back in 2005, which was and is how most Pakistanis still feel. There are also other reasons for his popularity, he seems to be the only politician who is in touch with the middle-class.

Anyway, there are many reasons why Imran Khan would make a good mediator. However, as Rehman Malik said, talks can only take place if the Taliban lay down their arms. Surrender is the only way forward for them. Once that is done, I have no issues with IK being a mediator.

Yeah let's have a peace talk so they can regroup again like in the past. Finish this monster of Taliban now.

Imran Khan has eye on Swat region for winning some seats for NA and PA for the next elections, His party has finally a strong hold in that region and removal of TTP benefits him a lot too.
Conservative and religious Pashtuns see him with them and not with USA.
His opposition to Musharraf helped him in his popularity among Conservative Pashtuns, behind the close doors both Imran and Musharraf are still friends.
Musharraf has never given bad remarks to Imran :coffee: even what ever Imran says about him.

This sounds very complex!!!

If TTPs are indeed the ones carrying out the slayings why many Pakistanis are still against sending troops? Care to make it clear?

:what:

^^^ sir who told you that he dont support TTP.have you never heard him saying that they are our own ppl.we shouldn't be sending army to fight against them..?

Many religious party use a strong card which is "Pakistan is doing every thing on US demands" or its "US war not ours" and people still buy that.

Yes, I remember hearing something like that, but that was before the operations started. There could be more to this then what people can see.
