before the american war on a noun, otherwise known as the war on terror came into being i just want to discuss how two separate issues become one, namely the taliban and suicide bombing.
what were the taliban?
the taliban were largely backward ethnic pashtuns who lived a brutal tribal lifestyle and were primarily concerned with preserving this and nothing else, right?
what was suicide bombing all about?
suicide bombing was seen as either an act of desperation/resistance against an enemy, or an act of terrorism.
suicide bombing was at this time, that is before the war on a noun, pretty much exclusively the preserve of tamils and palestinians
did the taliban ever use suicide bombing before the war on a noun? - no.
did the taliban ever concern themselves with international islamic/jihadist causes? no.
is there any indication that suicide bombing was part of a taliban manifesto/ideology? nothing that i know of.
did the afghans even use suicide bombing when fighting the russians? not 100% sure.
so how is it that the taliban and a whole host of other groups who previously had no inclination for this sort of thing suddenly decide that this is their new modus operandi.
what compelled them to do this?
one minute they do nothing like this, next minute america declare a war on islamic terrorism, and then in perfect harmony these guys start behaving like these islamic terrorists america describes - so whats the causality at play here?
any suggestions?
