No, actually this name was given because a fighter from this squardon chopped the tails off (with machine gun fire) parked IAF aircrafts on an IAF airbase.

Yes. but previous squadron was of 16 aircraft's (or 14 ?) .

Since JFTs are multirole. This squardon will operate as MR from now on.
and yes JFT is a lot better interceptor than F7P. If it applied in that role. But like I said it won't be limited to just interceptor role with this induction.
