Pictures are from Serbia, and transport company is from Serbia, but tanks are not from our country. As far as i know starting destination was Czech Republic. Also that story how Serbia sold 280 T55 to Pakistan was already proven to be false.

Scrap... when technology has been revolutionized, Turkey is looking to field electric powered next generation tanks. Having said that defense budget cuts have to reflect some where.
Thanks to Imran Khan, and thanks to voters of Imran Khan.

My friend no harm in buying second hand modernised/refurbished equipment . We have been doing this for more than three decades, nothing to do with IK.

Currently Turkey is in an Economic Limbo as well.

No harm in buying and as i said it was compulsion due to budget restrains, otherwise it make no sense.

Anyway i believe in getting rid of threat theaters, instead of straining nation for decades to maintain minimum deterrence... this is a lost game from beginning.
We need above average generals.. just like Musharraf, who can have holistic view of the purpose of being general of armed forces and out of box application of resources at his disposal.

First in 2015 Serbian army put to sale some 282 T55 tanks among other things. After that, there was the info that buyer was Pakistan. Soon after that it was proven to be false news. In 2019 there was still around 200 T55 still in Serbia, and the rest was sold in smaller batches.

If you look at docs provided by @Affanakad0t. You will see two tenders from 2018, both offering 30 tanks for sale, one batch from garnison in Prokuplje, other from Leskovac. That is enough to prove that Serbia did not sold some 280 tanks to Pakistan.

And the pictures from the first post in this theme where originaly posted on Serbian MyCity Military forum, the guy that posted the pics knew the driver of that truck. I already told you which was the starting destination, but i have not idea who is the buyer of those tanks.

Can you read that?
Yes, as i have writed above, those are 2018. calls for bids on two batches (30 each) of Serbian Army surplus T55 tanks. Who are the buyers i am not sure. There was some info that 30 went Libya in 2018, and some 30 T55 were donated to Iraq in 2017.

Ummmm, don't get so sentimental pal. There are few facts we need to consider like:
The majority of ground based COIN Ops by army were conducted by T59/69. These tanks, due to their lighter weight, have transversed mountaneous terrains; a task not possible by heavier counterparts. The 105mm shells are abundant in our stock and we produce them at home. This gun caliber is ideal to be used as fire support asset against enemy which relies more on dispersion & mobility for combat instead of frontal assault & armored formations. These tanks, (if are really bought), are extremely cheap; like 20 T55 at the cost of 1 AK (if we assume that $60 M as total deal worth). And they will be (as far as calculations go) will be ultimately handed over to FC which needs its own armor for countering Durand line based threats. With ability to operate at night, coupled with presnse of local supportive infrastructure and expertise for these type of tanks, the procurement is pretty justify able.

As far as the argument goes that in presnse of over 600 T59/69 already in PA arsenal, what's the point of procuring similar types? Well, PA simply cannot afford to shift a major portion of its armor (almost 1/3rd of PA Armored regiments are equipped with Type 59/69 tanks) from Eastern to Western borders as it will significantly reduce the relative balance of armored forces against India.

Therefore, T55 will remain stationed on Western side permanently while Army will keep working on better options to maintain armored balance on Eastern front....

Got it?
