Congrats.... second customer likely to be Philippines

Philippines Department of Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirmed that the Philippines Air Force selected the Turkish-made T129 Advanced Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance (ATAK) helicopters.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that the Air Force’s technical working group (TWG) has already recommended two helicopter types for purchase: the Turkish T129 ATAK attack helicopter and U.S.-made Sikorsky Black Hawk utility helicopter.

With its limited budget of $240 million, Lorenzana estimates that they can purchase around 16 Black Hawks and 8 T129 ATAKs.

The T129 ATAK helicopter is a new generation, tandem, two-seat, twin-engine helicopter specifically designed for attack and reconnaissance.

Developed in connection with the combat-proven AgustaWestland A129CBT, the new aircraft incorporates a new system philosophy with a new engine, new avionics, sight systems and weapons, modified airframe, an updated drive train and a new tail rotor. The power unit includes Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company (LHTEC) CTS800-4A developed by Rolls-Royce and Honeywell.

Thanks Turk Bro & InshAllah we always be with you until the judgment day :-)
Dear brother, this trade is also not important. You are in our prayers. Maybe we're physically far away from you, but our hearts are with you.

Pakistan is in a privileged position. Foreseen, not just ready package sales. We are moving towards a comprehensive agreement that will reach even the domestic production of ammunition.

If the news are correct, Philippines Army is unfortunately struggling with serious budget cuts. There is an uneasiness about not getting the number of helicopters they want. Probably sales will take place via the Eximbank channel.

The real important sales will be to our Moroccon brothers if there is no external pressure. The need there includes 24 helis. There is a serious interest in the Middle East and Latin region. Turkey may also consider sales of second-hand in near future.

Atak's first bid was in South Korea. Although TAI was offered one of the two remaining platforms, probably eliminated for non-technical reasons. Or in the last evaluation, the need for a helicopter in heavy class came to the fore. I do not know. Apart from that, AtakT129b1 is winner all the tenders which participates in.

This situation and its outstanding success in the battlefield enables us to look forward to T129B2 and ATAK-2 which is the main target as a heavy class chopper.

The $240 million is not enough for 8 T-129 and 16 Black Hawks,so how did they come up with these numbers?

. . . . .
What’s wrong with the leasing of first nine T-129A’s which are in basic configuration?
Nothing,but why the question?
Go through the thread first, they talk about purchase, not lease.
$240 million for 8 T-129 and 16 Black Hawks is impossible, even if you get the Black Hawks almost for free.
