Al-Halqi and Rahimi Hold Session of Talks..Syria and Iran Determined to Overcome Challenges

Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi discussed with the first Vice President of Iran Mohammad Riza Rahimi joint cooperation between Syria and Iran in the economic, trade, financial, health and banking fields, in addition to sectors of services, infrastructure, oil, gas and electric power.

During a session of joint talks, al-Halqi and Rahimi reviewed the situation and the challenges to which the two countries are exposed due to their adherence to national interests and rights, stressing determination to foil these challenges and achieve victory.

Al-Halqi briefed the Iranian senior official on the economic situation in Syria and the suffering it endures because of the unfair siege and the economic sanctions, particularly the losses in the sectors of petroleum, gas and electricity due to the attacks of the armed terrorist groups.

Rahimi, for his part, appreciated the historic stances of Syria and its support to Iran during the difficult stages, renewing Iran's support to Syria, as government and people, as well as boosting the constituents of its steadfastness.

He underlined that Iran will offer what Syria needs of aids and basic materials, particularly in the fields of oil and electricity, expressing confidence that Syria will overcome the crisis and come out of it victorious.

Later, Rahimi held a dinner banquet in honor of the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation.

In a similar meeting, al-Halqi and Saeed Jalili, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, underlined the strong and deep cooperation relations as well as the historic friendship between the two countries and peoples.

The two sides underlined the need for taking all measures to promote the economic ties to the level of the strategic political relations between Syria and Iran.

During the meeting, Jalili underscored support to Syria in it struggle against the challenges and conspiracies to which it is exposed.

The Prime Minister also discussed with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salihi the bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region.

Al-Halqi and Salihi said that Syria and Iran, through their cooperation, stand against the projects and plots which aim at striking the resistance and destabilizing the region's security and stability.

Salihi also expressed his country's support to the factors of Syria struggle in the face of challenges.

The Syrian Prime Minister affirmed that the political program to solve the crisis in Syria, as presented by President Bashar al-Assad, constitutes the way out of the crisis, solving it through dialogue and peaceful resolutions.

"The government works for taking the best mechanisms to carry out that initiative and calls on all national parties, civil and economic activities to hold dialogues that pave the way for convening a national conference for dialogue that creates the basis to come out of the current crisis and achieve the national reconciliation," al-Halqi added.

He appreciated Iran for its initiatives which call for solving the crisis in Syria through dialogue and peaceful ways and rejecting the foreign intervention in Syria's domestic affairs.

Later, al-Halqi discussed with the Iranian Security Minister Haidar Moslehi cooperation between the two countries and the joint commitment to promote it in all fields in the interests of the two countries.

"The universal conspiracy and terrorism against Syria come in the framework of targeting resistance method in the region and imposing projects which come in the service of the Israeli and US interests," Moslehi said.

The Syrian Ministers, members of the Syrian accompanying delegation and Governor of Central Bank of Syria held bilateral meetings with their Iranian counterparts during which they discussed joint cooperation among their ministries and the affiliated sectors as well as means of developing the relations of cooperation.

The meetings basically concentrated on cooperation in the fields of petroleum, gas, electricity, economy and finance as well health and services.

The Prime Minister arrived in Tehran on Tuesday on top of a Syrian official delegation upon an invitation by the First Vice President of Iran Mohammad Riza Rahimi.

Upon his arrival to the Iranian Presidential HQ, official welcome ceremonies were held for him.

He was received by Rahimi and a number of Iranian Ministers along with Syria's Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud.

The Premier was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for the Services Affairs, Minister of Local Administration Omar Ghalawanji, Minister of the State's Presidential affairs Mansour Azzam, Minister of Finance Mohammad Jleilati, Health Minister Saad al-Naief, Secretary General of the Cabinet Taiyser al-Zo'bi, Central Bank of Syria Governor Adib Mayaleh and Assistant of Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ahmad Arnous.

President Ahmadinejad.. No Solution to Crisis in Syria without halting violence

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran affirmed his confidence that the Syrian people will overcome the difficult conditions adding "Syria will cross the crisis it encounters into the land of safety."

"No solution to the crisis except by the halt of violence through dialogue, national understanding, democracy and elections," President Ahmadinejad said during a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Tuesday.

He expressed support to Syria, as government and people, to restore stability and face different challenges as well as backing efforts of reform and the peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria.

He called on the governments of Syria and Iran to boost bilateral cooperation and to take all necessary measures to develop it in the interests and aspirations of the two peoples.

Al-Halqi, for his part, briefed the Iranian President on what Syria is encountering of terrorism, backed by international powers, affirming the Syrian people's capability to face these challenges and overcome them.

He pointed out to the difficulties which face the national economy and the losses in the sectors of oil, gas and electricity due to the acts of the armed terrorist groups.

During the meeting, the talks dealt with issues related to the bilateral cooperation that were discussed by both countries' delegations, particularly regarding cooperation in economy and providing gas, Fuel and supporting electricity.

The Iranian President called for taking all means to provide the basic needs for the Syrian people.

Syria, Iran Discuss Cooperation Relations

The delegation tasked with preparation of the visit of the Prime Minister Weal al-Halqi to Iran discussed with the Iranian side the cooperation in the fields of economy, commerce, health, electricity and petroleum.

Secretary- General of the Cabinet, Tayseer al-Zoubi, on Monday stressed the importance of developing the economic relations as to enhance the steadfastness of the peoples of the two countries.

Al-Zoubi expressed appreciation for the stances of Iran in support of the Syrian people and government.

For his part, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Adviser to Vice President of Iran reiterated Iran's support to the Syrian people and government in the face of the terrorists war led by the west and some of the region's countries.

Kazemi stressed that al-Halqi's visit will contribute to supporting the two countries' economies and enhancing their ability to face the economic war against them.

The two sides highlighted the importance of benefitting from the measures taken to facilitate the exchange of goods and merchandizes between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, Syria's Ambassador to Iran.

Syria, Iran Sign $ 1 Billion Credit Facility Agreement and Seven Contracts on Energy Transmission

Syria and Iran on Wednesday signed a USD 1 billion line of credit facility agreement between the Commercial Bank of Syria and the Export Development Bank of Iran.

Other seven contracts on energy transmission and electric equipment were also signed during the concluding of bilateral talks between the Syrian and Iranian sides in Tehran.

Heading the Syrian delegation, Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi stressed that Syria is facing a global war to divert it from its national stances and undermine the axis of resistance in the region.

He noted that the powers hostile to Syria have failed to achieve its goals and Syria is going ahead to achieve security and stability, launch dialogue and the national reconciliation and build Syria depending on its capacities and the support of its friends.

The Premier hailed the importance of the outcomes of this visit in enhancing cooperation between the two countries, expressing gratitude to Iran for its efforts to support the Syrian people in their development process and against terrorism.

For his part, Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, who headed the Iranian side to the meeting, condemned the terrorist attacks against the innocents in Syria which were carried out by armed terrorist groups backed by regional and international countries.

He denounced the terrorist bombing in Aleppo University on Tuesday and offered condolences to the martyrs' families.

Iran's First Vice President stressed that Iran will always support Syria and the steadfastness of the Syrian people on all levels and under all circumstances.

Rahimi reiterated his country's support to the political program to solve the crisis in Syria as it constitutes the objective and direct basis to get out of the crisis through national dialogue and political means.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the Syrian people to achieve victory, overcome the current circumstances and restore security and stability.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, Minister of Electricity, Imad Khamis, said that the contracts included 50 million Euros to establish a power generation plant in the Syrian Coastal region with a total capacity of 650 megawatts.

He added that the plant will depend on fuel and gas for operation and the Iranian side will fund its establishment.

Minister Khamis said that around USD 500 million of the Iranian loan were allocated for electricity sector, indicating that Syria agreed with Iranian Mabna Engineering and Construction Company on several investment projects, including investment in wind power.

On exchanging power with Iran, he said that the Iranian side will coordinate with Iraq to carry out the project of transmitting electricity to Syria and overcome obstacles hindering it.

In a relevant context, Premier al-Halqi and Ali Saeedlou, Deputy President of Islamic Republic of Iran, reviewed the outcome of talks held between the two countries with the aim of enhancing bilateral relations in a way that serves the aspirations of their peoples.

Saeedlou stressed his country's commitment to continue its support to the Syrian people, calling for speeding up procedures to deliver the aid, particularly in the financial, economic, energy and oil derivatives sectors.

Larijani: Iran is Committed to Provide All Forms of Support to Enhance Syria's Steadfastness

Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Ali Larijani, stressed the importance of the political program which was launched by President Bashar al-Assad to solve the crisis in Syria, voicing Iran's support to solve the crisis on the basis of dialogue and political and democratic means.

In a meeting with Premier al-Halqi and the accompanying delegation, Larijani expressed Iran's commitment to stand by Syria on all levels, saying "Our duty is to offer all forms of support to enhance Syria's steadfastness and help it overcome the current crisis and restore its security and stability."

For his part, Dr. al-Halqi said that Syria is facing economic pressure and several challenges in the oil, gas and electicity sectors because of its commitment to its national stances and supporting the resistance.

He hailed the achievements of the Armed Forces in the face of terrorism and terrorist groups, stressing that Syria will achieve victory in its battle against terrorism thanks to the unity of its people and the support of its friends.

Al-Halqi expressed gratitude to Iran's leadership and people for their stances in support of the Syrian people in face of terrorism.

The two sides reviewed cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of following up what has been agreed upon to facilitate entry of gas and gas oil into Syria.

Syrian-Iranian Talks on Cooperation in Electricity and Energy Fields

Minister of Electricity, Eng. Imad Khamis, on Wednesday discussed with Director General of Iranian Mabna Engineering and Construction Company, Ali Avadi, means of enhancing cooperation in the energy and electricity fields.

The two sides discussed the establishment of new power generating plants and future projects in the field of electricity generation and electricity system maintenance.

The new projects include the establishment of steam power generation station with a capacity of 600 mega watt and the implementation of a wind farm with a capacity of 50 to 100 mega watt.

The discussions came in the framework of the visit of the Syrian cabinet delegation to Tehran headed by Premier Wael al-Halqi to discuss means of economic cooperation in various domains between Syria and Iran.
