What about the Assad Supporters ? There could just as many as the protestors. Alawi and Christians Support Assad very Strongly they saw what extremists did to Christians after Saddam Fell.

Sunni muslims r close to 80 percent do u think they should be ruled by a very smal minority coz there might be some abuses? It is unfair and what happened in iraq is different btw there r many chrisitians against bashar. do u know in the 50's there was christian prime minister in syria. It is the regime who is playing the sectarian card.

There is little that can be done here. Now I don't know, but from the way Erdogan has been behaving I think it is likely that Turks will intervene sooner or later due to the refugee issue.

I would bet money on that happening, if the situation continues to evolve the way it has the past 8 weeks.

I am unsure what the best course of action is for the parties involved.
If intervention by Turkey does take place, there is an almost continues warzone from Palestine (to a lesser extent) to the Af/Pak Border region. If 'destabilizing a region' means anything, I think that is what could very well happen. I might be wrong and I surely don't want to see the Syrian people suffer but looking at Libya I am unsure if such an intervention in a civil war (which it could be described as since there are also reports that the protestors are armed themselves) is actually sensible.
