Syria keen to buy latest Iranian ‘Bavar-373’ defense missile system: report
3214828.jpg

TEHRAN, Sep. 14 (MNA) – Syria plans to buy the Iranian air defense system BAVAR-373 due to less efficiency of the Russia's S-300 missile system

However almost 8 months old news but deserves to be mentioned again.
Syrian looks to be ubsatisfied with S300. People have suggested different reasons but highly likely it has political reasons behind. S300 doesnt repel and defy Israeli attacks against Syria.

If you dont be strong then you wouldnt be able to defend yourself. No need to insult anyone, you can not expect someone else to sacrifice his interests because of your weakness. We will help Syria to have a potent airdefense system.

"Sevome Khordad" is a better canditate for theaters such as Syria. It has a greater maneuverability and very low footprint. Furthermore, you do not need to defend as many components of this system as it's an "all in one system". One can imagine with the relative ease you can create large "kill zones" with such a compact system scattered and hidden. What a beautiful system.

No there won't be any Bavar-373 or 3rd Khordad AD systems in Syria.

Well the Syrians definitely need to beef up their air defenses and Iran can surely sell it to them much cheaper. Considering the rapid increase in the quality of Iranian air defense systems lately, it's possible.

Some times it can be better for air defense systems to have various spread out components rather than all in one. It's makes it more difficult for the enemy to effectively target and destroy all the various parts.

I believe the Israeli's have already targeted Syrian BUK's in the past. A more spread out system might be better for the Syrians then, although u could argue that an all in one style in much more efficient.

However having various sites where operators can leave the various components and then they could go underground and operate out of a cavern or tunnel/bunker might be the best way for survivability.

I mean you can always replace equipment but your manpower and especially highly trained personnel are your most valuable asset.

This route will require much more attention to detail and alot more setup work but could be worth it in the long run. Go underground, plug everything in and operate. It's possible but I haven't seen it yet.

The smaller production capacity of these might not allow for export of this system anytime in the near future. Also, the system is seems too advanced for Iran to create an export variant of it without putting its domestic version in danger. Based on the recent exercises, the system might even have a classified TELAR component.
Out of curiosity though, what would an export variant of B373 look like, if it was available now?

Syrians are not satisfied with Russian radar systems (confirmed); S-300 system failed to produce meaningful results in Syria much like S-400 system which was in Russian hands anyways. Syrians are satisfied with Chinese radar systems on the other hand.

There is no substitute for a well equipped Air Force in the battlefield TBH.

you mean , Syria wants "Iran donating Bavar-373 to Syria "

The only Solution for Turkey and Isreal harassments is to attack their main land and air base directly ... even if you have F22 but you only stay in your sky , you will start to lose the ground ...

the best defense is offence ...
