Swedish company IKEA set to enter India with Rs 3,000 crore investment

.
Imran bhai .. once they enter in the India market they`ll know the reasonable rate according to Indian market...

welcome move for Indian economy ... now more`ll know the crap side of S&P...

i move daily in front of IKEA but never ever try them for me their advertisement is enough :fie:

IKEA has overpriced junk, that is ridiculously difficult to assemble. Not sure why some people think it's so great, I've always regretted any purchases I've made there.

.
Who says Investment is not coming to India....if we allow Walmart today..they will open their store tomorrow...

Well, it is understandable that India has an ever growing middle-class. Hence, all these global chains. But 3,000 crore?!

May be Indians are yet to learn, but comparing with the cost of the traditional furniture I hope IKEA's price will be low.

Their stores pretty spacious....

FDI should be encouraged in the fields of infrastructure projects or big corporate level industries like Airline etc... Not at the cost of corner shops, small scale industries or ordinary carpenters... 'cause that's what IKEA is all about. Hope govt of India will make sure that all IKEA products are locally manufactured by the local people using local raw materials. Only then it's worth it.

If I am not mistaken, India does not allow foreign investment in India's airlines. I don't think there is any need considering how well carriers like Indi Go and SpiceJet have been doing. Although, KingFisher was a blunder...

Corner Store: Conner store and Walmart can exist side by side in India just on the fact that Walmart doesn't give goods on credit and most of the salaried class buys goods on credit from the corner store. Also Walmart or Carefour is not going to open store in each and every city and town.

Small scale industries: SSIs can sell their products directly to retail MNCs. If I have a food processing unit, it easier for me to strike a big deal with Walmart than numerous small deals with various corner stores.

Carpenters: Experienced carpenters are hard to come by in my place and those who are very busy and charge 600/- per day.

There should be FDI in airlines sector and the Govt should stop treating this sector as a bastion of elite and privileged as more and more middle class are taking to air.

Are you sure that it will yield that result by allowing foreign investors in the airline sector? :azn: There's the issue of control and trust me, politics is all there in the airline world.

I wouldn't recommend it. India's airlines have the capability, demand, capacity and the resources to do it by themselves. People still fly in them! Why fix something that is doing fine?

I am not an expert but airlines sector is considered one of the most taxed sectors in India. I want GoI to rethink on this policy. If not FDI, the govt should make it easier for airlines companies to raise capital from Indian markets. Also for God sake sell off or privatize the White Elephant called Air India. Its all set to suck in 40, 000 crores of rupees.
