Survey results: Who has been Pakistan's best ruler?

Ayub Khan might have been the best candidate. He kept Pukhtoonistan movement at bay which during at the time Pakistan was new and unfounded by identity. And then his economical initiatives has been nothing short of game changer. The next best reminds me of Nawaz Sharif that stabilized the nation through the economical projects from being failed nation. That was the critical moment at the stage of make or break which was game-changer.

I remember at that time Pakistan was sure to collapse thanks to Zardari while attacks were happening all over Pakistan yet those who attacked were defended by one political party motivated by ethnicity constantly. Children and women were being killed for no reason. And those who stood against the terrorist-outfit were condemned in public. That was the worst time!!!

Personally, i would have wanted Madam Fatimah Ali Jinnah to lead instead of Ayub Khan. She was the best person for the job who knew and stood with her brother, Muhammad Ali Jinnah (R.A), the founder of Pakistan, and made the vision of Pakistan reality. She knew what Pakistan needed and what Jinnah Ali Jinnah (R.A) wanted for Pakistan. Instead, we let Bhutto and Zia dictated which goes against everything Muhammad Ali Jinnah (R.A)'s vision of Pakistan stands for.

In fact, the ideology of Pakistan would have been revived or continued to ensure Pakistan should be ruled by civilian government instead of military leader which defied the direct ideology of Muhammad Ali Jinnah (R.A) considering no military figure can impose its authority upon the nation against its wills. It has to be power from the common people.

Considering what happened to Fatimah Ali Jinnah (R.A) is unfortunate which made inroads for Ayub Khan which didn't help given his military background and the clashes against the sister of the founding father of Pakistan.

i can believe that ZA Bhutto is in 4th. Seriously. The guy who make possible to divide Pakistan into and give us gift of nationalization and because of that Pakistan never recovered economy wise is still in 4th place? He revised every single move done by Ayub Khan. It is time to wake up and see who hurt Pakistan the most.

Had Ayub continued for a decade more, Pak wud have been closer to South Korea than fellow SAARC countries.

In retrospect even Gaddafi or Saddam would be brilliant leaders. This is a flawed logic to ask people about Ayub or Bhutto where most of the people or bulk of the population are below 35.

No point in point scoring forgotten and forgiven leaders of Pakistan.

We do remember our leaders somehow for their flaws and not for their achievements in those eras. A common citizen accepts and owns every leader we have seen apart from a certain section of society who are extremist or fascist in their approach.

What is even more dangerous an approach is a certain section of the society over a certain age who in their frustration and helplessness blame even the Objective Resolution. These lost souls of the hippie generation can be clearly profiled and classified as the wanderers of the less visionary tales of the forgotten past.

Under Ayub Khan, Pakistan was growing almost three times faster than India. He focused on development and initiated many crucial projects. He still had great potential, but his greatest blunder was initiating military action against India in 1965 instead of 1962.

He had no option in 62..

Zia may have been responsible for sectarianism in Pakistan internally, but he had true strategic vision.

If he were sectarian he would've taken sides during the Iran Iraq war. He did not.
He was very receptive towards Shias actually. The governor of Balochistan assigned by him was a Hazara Shia. He also had a pretty good understanding with Khomenei.

Sectarianism,Radicalization-its all a by-product of the war on terror.

Mushy all the way 100% and more don't care what anyone says !!

Zia was stupid in a sense he trained his own people for Kashmir and Afghan jihad. If he restricted himself to just support proxies in Afghanistan then things would have been better.
