Mig-25 is able to achieve an altitude of 20-25 km but 29 is too much for me to digest and for the rest i.e. Su, Migs, no chance ! they can achieve 18-20 at best. Yes we still do need high altitude sam system and fd-2000/ hq-9 is the most suitable solution for this purpose.

Pakistan required a modren SAM system and need to form a network of batteries to for a second line of defense against any air intrusion.

these system should have complete or atleast, imited anti-missile capability as well to add a new dimension to PA/PAF SAM system.

for this, to cause a terror into hearts of enemy so they dare not cross into your airspce, the need of hour is to accquirre and medium-to-long range, high altitude Surface to air missile system.

the FT-2000 would be a very good choice.!!

yes bro we seriously need to develop such a missile shield to intercept any kind of external threat trying to violate our airspace...the system should be a network of small medium and long range ground to air missile sytems capable to target/kill any kind of missile or aircraft trying to enter into our airspace..

very true,
Paksiatn must shift there focus and invest on counter measure systems.
either be it the SAM system to counter the best of the aircrafts in the world or be it Radars to detect the best!!

i have always been a fan of Anti-Stealth radar system rather then stealth aircrafts.
you see, such a radar occuping the JFT will turn it into an F-22 Raptor killer!!

No its just one part of the whole strategy of intercepting IAF jets and denying them aerial superiority over Pakistani skies.

A good long range missile system will free PAF jets from these duties and divert them to other important tasks.

SAM systems and interceptor jets are both part of the aerial battle strategy of not only PAF, but every major air force of the world.

more importantly it will form a second line of defence that will make the IAF think twice before intruding our air space.

Spada 2000 will definitely help guard against any aerial threats on our air fields.


I don't know but i am assuming that PAF or Pakistan Army acquired the Chinese HQ-9 system way back, because Musharraf was way too eager to get it and the fact that around the same time they placed the order for AEWACs and J-10s while Placing the order for F-16s.

It was circa 2005/6.......

Range of a SAM is not the altitude it can reach (that is stated seprrately), but the distance in kilometres at which it can shoot down a target. Its usually a diagnoal distance, not a purely vertical or horizontal distance.

Thus medium range SAM will have much less coverage area than a long-range one.

IMO, Pak's best bet for Long Range SAM would be the HQ-9. I think generally, Pak military is moving away from US supplied weapons and looking for more and more from Chinese suppliers

Even if Pakistan has HQ-9 SAM system, it will be never revealed publicly nor shown for secrecy and surprise reasons.

As if the enemy knows that we have such a system, they will then actively look for it and will prepare counter strategies & measures.

So even if we have them, you will always keep hearing its rumors nothing official.
