America, the self styled keepers of conscience and human rights around the world, who leave no stone unturned to blame others around the world for 'human rights violations' are themselves guilty of the worst violations especially by the law enforcement agencies.

Such incidents keep happening in the US of A at regular intervals. Your law enforcement agencies are a law unto themselves. They need to be put on a tight leash - the sooner, the better.

I won't have said all these, if this comparison thread was not started. We have an issue let's deal with it. What will we gain by saying US does this, US does that. US is our reference point or what ? How many rape cases of India are first reported by US news and then by an Indian news channel. None! It always goes the other way round.

Don't compare with US. Rape happens all over the world. It's just a matter of more and less. Don't forget that the Indian rape related news are reported by Indian and not US media. We should accept the issue. Only then we can mend it. Don't put blame on others. Help save the country. Even if lets say US have more, how's it going to help us ? Think.

The National Crime Records Bureau says 8233 women were killed across India last year because of disputes over dowry payments given by the bride's family to the groom or his family at the time of marriage.

The conviction rate in dowry-related crimes remained a low 32 per cent, according to statistics the bureau published last week.

This is a very valid point and I quite agree. But isn't it our own media too that had gone hyper over these issues for the last five,six years? As if there were no rape in India before.

Our media should go hyper on this.....this awareness is what enabled the 112% increase in reported rapes which is a great thing..now every rapists knows that when you rape a woman the woman is bold enough to report to police...we badly need police reforms now for the next step.... but whats with the hypocrisy of western media.... Countless(i mean dozens) British tourists got raped in Spain( thats just one nationality mind you) as compared to 3 in 2 years in india and the west puts travel advisory to India and not Spain ?
