Urdu has the ability to absorb many languages and even Urdu itself is made up of different languages. But this is not topic here! Let's discuss it somewhere else.
So has the punjabi the ability to absorb words from other languages. Read the punjabi poetry of Baba Fareed (from 12th century), Sultan Bahu (16th century), Bullay Shah and Waris shah (17th century), it is full of persio-arabic vocabulary in the exact same form as we use it even today in our colloquial punjabi, we have not learned any persio-arabic vocabulary in last 100 years or so , it is part of punjabi language for at least 1000 years.
