6 hrs now - no word on the plane whereabouts and its pilots

Indian Establishment is matured and they will first consult with the Airforce command and will issue the statement by keeping the border dispute agreements as the border dispute talks are in final phase.

Hundreds of American planes crashed in this region during WWII and till today the wreckages are hard to find. So you can imagine how difficult this terrain could be.

As a layman a few queries ...
1. Do the su 30mki planes have gps fitted or its a security risk ?
2. What are the systems common to the 2 engines in the sukhoi that can fail and cause a catastrophic failure.
3. When flying in a sortie , how come the 2nd plane is unable to locate the general area of crash ? Arnt they in constant touch ?

India cannot do anything if China shot down this jet for violating it's airspace. All it would do is the usual randi-rona, couple of fake surgical strike videos and lots of barking on the media.

If it was shot then China would have claimed it by now

problem is MKI as its made in india.
your other top line fighters dont seem to have half the problems MKI have so the blame lies in made in india issue.

you mean had this been a Chinese fighter gone down near Indian border, the indian media would have claimed it as a war trophy shot down by the brave indian soldiers. they would made films on it and claimed it was a surgical strike part 2.

Sounds like sudden failure that cut off communication. Hope pilots bailed out safely.

According to an article published by Deccan Herald on 5th May, 2015, there are six full-fledged airports/air bases in Tibet where some PLAAF squadrons of Su-27UBK and Su-30MKK are permanently stationed and have practiced operations in coordination with PLA ground forces. The above stated bases would likely be suitable for J-20 operations.

Wild Weasels are fighters designed to take on surface-to-air missile batteries in a SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defense) role. Armed with anti-radiation missiles (which lock on and target radars by their electronic emissions) and electronic intelligence and electronic warfare jammers, they are designed to engage and suppress defenses (mobile and fixed defenses), opening the way for traditional air attacks.

In what may raise serious concerns for India along the Chinese frontier, Air chief Marshal Arup Raha on Saturday said the Chinese flying operations in Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) has increased “exponentially”. He, however, cited that India too has its assets deployed along the border and that India does not have a reason to worry.
“In TAR, flying operation (of Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force) has increased exponentially and the capability (has been) increasing throughout the year… We also have our assets, our infrastructure and are deploying our force (along border). Therefore, there is no need to worry,” Raha said, adding that India had no reason to be anxious about a two-front war involving Pakistan and China.

The Chinese military has relocated more vehicles in the anti-graft campaign to border areas, a sign that the campaign is helping troops improve their fighting capability.
As of the end of September, all vehicles found in violation during the anti-graft campaign have been handed to troops stationed in remote and border areas under harsh conditions such as Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Tibet, reported 81.cn, the website of army newspaper the PLA Daily.
The report did not specify the number of vehicles or their models but said the transfer was ordered by a military meeting in June.
