Su-30 has T220 EO and laser targeting pod developed from Su-34's Platan fuselage mounted EO and laser targeting system sort of like F-117's fuselage mounted EO and laser targeting system. Su-30 is armed with all kinds of PGM including laser, TV, GPS, as well as Kh-59MK2 air launched land attack cruise missiles range more than 300 km.

T220 and Kh59MK2 exist only in cartoon movies. Su-30 is flying in Syria for 2.5 years and only drops dumb bombs there on villages without any air defence.

Targeting pod is for first gen PGM like laser ones. New PGM are GPS guided and automatically receive target locations from recon drones. GPS PGM have great range and all weather capability which early PGM lack, and allows pilots to attack moving or stationary targets from safe stand off distance in any weather condition with drop and forget capability. So in essence Su-30 does not need targeting pod.

Su-30 is multi role. Same type as F-15E.

F-14 is much better fighter though.

I agree. Iran needs to move away from Russia because it has proven time and time again over the last 40 years that it is totally controlled by Israel/US and cannot be trusted to adhere to signed contracts.

Pakistan has good experience in the development of JF-17 and China is starting to overtake Russia in terms of jet technology (finally resolving their engine problems and moving forward with stealth tech very nicely).

Tell me which country is going to sell Iran weapons and risk pressure and sanctions? China is going for a a business orientated strategy, they are not going to risk their economy for Iran. Look at what happened to China's ZTE phone manufacture when they got caught selling to Iran. They got banned from importing chips and nearly 50,000 Chinese were about to lose their jobs.

Pakistan cant even finish the I.P Pipeline because of outside pressures and you now expect to jointly produce advanced weapons?

You need to be realistic, Iran does not have much of a choice.

This is a very sensitive issue in Iran. They tried to let Russia use Hamedan air base but there was a lot of uproar so they had to kick them out.

Iran did get the s-300 in the end didnt they, at least you got it, its better than not having it all. I dont see any other countries selling weapons to Iran.
And for the part about UNSC, so did China and all the other countries on the UNSC.

You said you wanted to distance Iran from Russia because of the s-300 and voting UNSC sanctions against Iran and then mentioned Pakistan's experience. That implied to me you wanted to jointly produce weapons with them. If thats not what you meant then I dont know what was the point of you making that statement. Yes Pakistan has experience your talking about but so does many other countries.

It is true that Russia is not the best of Allies but its the best Iran has currently got with the situation its currently is in.
